Yeah man Reggie love most definitely needed oxygen after this game they was coming after him every chance they got and he held he’s own we just didn’t have any offense at all if drake Maye was the QB heck even Sam Howell we win this game 🐏
The emt who revived Jim Knight the referee who had a heart attack on the field was a member of my church. He received a standing ovation during worship service the next day.
Ron and Mike were terrific announcers who brought real energy to every broadcast; love seeing this game plus the other highlights and hearing the names of those that went pro…hell, even the referee (Terry McAuley) is in the NFL now.
After the game Shevin Smith wore a Tar Heel jersey in the locker room. This is probably my second favorite game as a FSU fan growing up in the 90's, second to the first championship in 94. I thought FSU would lose to UNC. I considered that UNC defense as good as any in the ACC in the 90's. The difference in this game was FSU defensive front outplaying the UNC offensive line and Travis Minor''s second half. Also, the ESPN opening is far superior to anything they have today. As far as Franklin and Gottfried, they were terrific better than anything ESPN has now with the exception of Mcdonough and Blackledge.
I remember this game. I dont think it had any Tv air time. Not sure why. One of the best Pack and Heels game. I heard the entire game on radio. Woody was the best.
Never understood why this one wasn't being broadcast on some sports channel (there was enough of them even back then), but props go to Time Warner cable for broadcasting the game on a public access channel and working out with (it think) Learfield Sports to looping in the audio broadcast called by veteran Tar Heel sports radio broadcaster Woody Durham.....this one was definitely a classic
