I turned my spiritus thing 2 into a RRV by adding the Condor chest rig bib to it. Super happy with it. I got water, navigation 6 mags, hardened pouch for NVGs, medical, TQ pouch and poker knife.
Hey sorry for commenting on a bit of a older video, I don't know if you're going to actually see this but I found a combat shirt at City Thrift and bought it because thought it looked cool but once I got home I started noticing little things about it. The one I have is the one with a zipper collar and it doesn't have anywhere to place a name patch or us army patch which made me think it might be civilian or its designed to be worn with a kevlar vest, which is where you would put your name etc. Is the combat shirt actually worn by soldiers and is approved and the missing velcro spots is because this shirt is meant to be worn under a vest?
Personally ive had terrible experiences with velcro gp pouches from dumping pencils, chemlights, and my lighter in brush while crawling to losing a phone zipper rains supreme
Got my RRV about a month back. Haven’t really had a chance to use it yet. Has me feeling the old GWOT vibes again. Really a solidly made piece of gear. Got it set up for M4….really wanting to get another one and set it up for 308 but finding mag pouches is tough.
I'm just getting into some budget tac gear and the FLC was my first choice. I knew I wanted a vest style and I am very happy with it. Still adding pouches and getting it how I want it but I love it so far. Very modular and very comfortable.
You should cut in a clip of curly from The Three stooges short where they are on board the ship and all there is to eat is beans and curly is freaking out going "BEANS BEANS BEANS!!!"
These things are actually awesome and get a lot of unnecessary hate. Bought a box of 10 for $30. $3 for a days worth of food opposed to a MRE for closer to $20 for just one or two meals. Sure they don’t taste as great as some of the better MRE meal options, but they are way better than the nastier ones. Great to have around for camping or general food storage.
I’ve been looking for one of these and some other alice gear for a load bearing kit, nice to see most of what I need is on the same website. Nice to see a fellow OA member, Vigil honor is impressive.
So… what paint did you use for these because rustolium doesn’t adhere at all. Even with clear coat applied it’s almost 100% rubbed off after going in and out of a pouch a few times.
‘06 - ‘07 I spent all my first deployment in an FLC over my IBA. On second deployment, we got the IOTV, and I found it easier to just have all the pouches directly on it. Now I wear a cheap FLC I bought at the local surplus store now that I’m a civilian.
I managed to get my hands on 2 Eagle RRVs. One in khaki, and one in coyote brown. At least in my searching, coyote RRVs have been somewhat of a unicorn for me, but finally got one to add to my FSBE kit collection. Marine Force Recon was issued these as well in Coyote Brown as part of the FSBE II kit. Although the RRV back panel was used, a lot of force recon guys managed to attach the back panel from the Allied Industries MBSS instead.
Add two key rings to each side top and bottom and this will lock the webbing so you don't have to sew anything. Then you can add the other hardware if you want. It will work with out the other hardware. By using two key rings you can adjust the straps putting them on but not to take off. You can also loop the strap back through the key rings at the bottom and make a quick release to drop the bag easily if you need to.
As prices continue to increase for military surplus items (new commercial gear prices are outrageous!) any 'tips and tricks' to make affordable surplus more useful is beneficial. Thank you Lucas for this video and keep 'em coming!
I got mine when I was in 3rd recon... I added pack straps and a mag pouch on each side and I also made my own beaver tail strapped on by swift clips to hold my helmet. Works great and was free compared to a $250 yote
I love how he casually dropped you probably have a set of Alice Straps laying around. It’s like a hidden truth. If your into Milsurp Gear your going to have Alice.
We need to stop calling the GWOT and start calling it The Twenty Years War. Actually fighting terrorism was never the goal. If that were the case the US wouldn't have supported terrorists groups like ISIS.
