Chissà, magari non gli è stata offerta una cena. E magari gliela ha offerta ai bei tempi la Callas, passata alla storia per la sua generosità e per la propensione a socializzare.

Callas , fue mejorando poco a poco , en la gira del año siguiente 1973 1974 . Los conciertos del Japón de 1974 hay una diferencia tremenda con este dúo del 72 . Qué pena que el disco no lo hicieran al final de la gira !
Basta maltrattare i ruoli da grande soprano con voce modesta, fiato corto e vibrato fastidioso. Soprano inutile, ingiustificatamente sopravvalutato per inspiegabili ragioni di mercato

She was the greatest who ever existed, and he was one of the greatest. But let's face it : here they are extremely bad, their time was up and their voices destroyed. A moving historical document though, of course.
That these two artists who both gave so much more of themselves than most at the highest artistic level, were able to produce this flawless duet, despite waning vocal resources, is a heavenly gift. Only GREAT spirits could have produced such a treasurable memory!

Callas worked well as Desdemona....she had the delicacy that the character required. Di Stefano, with an unmatched lyrical tenor voice, should never have sung Otello......poor casting. He sounded forced and tired...a role for a true dramatic tenor: listen to Del Monaco, Domingo and Martinelli ...and yes, even Gigli( believe it or not in 1951)
