I got an Elitedesk 800 G4 for 73USD delivered. G4 was the first with 2x M2 2280 slots. (Old Dell don’t have). TrueNAS Scale dragonfish, M2 6x SATA & M2 E key 2x SATA in WiFi slot. Running with top cover off. It’s pretty good with the 8500T 6 core, but not really enough cores for virtualisation. Low power 35W running on 19.5v derived from 24v solar; along with a Dell 3020 Kubernetes & HP 620t lower power AMD web server
Very good content! Do you know what should i do with 4TB HGST EMC drives that are recognized as 3TB? Any idea how to update frimware from HGST? (because EMC limited drives as 3TB with their custom firmware). Thank you!
Work for one IBm 10tb, not work for 12tb , have this messages Unexpected extra argument: -size=512 Unexpected extra argument: -fmtpinfo=0 Unexpected extra argument: /dev/sg0.
Hint for 2024+ the Supermicro site has an incorrect link to their own files and redirects you to the main page. The support page Submit button tries to link you to an "LSI" section of their drivers, it is now "Broadcom" the address at the top of the smaller popup browser window at 1:09 of this video will still work if you replace "LSI" with "Broadcom"
Would there be any performance / space advantage if they were fomatted to 4K instead. And, would the process be more or less the same. Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated.
You say there's better headphones for your money; which are your recommendations? Because i heard M40x at a music instrument store and actually liked them. That doesn't happen a lot. In the interim they got pretty expensive though. In the last 3+ years, there's no way to get them under 130 EUR. I did manage to find beaten up used ones, but... well now i have to replace the pads and make a new headband.
I installed a Samsung 128GB NVME as the boot drive and ran Crystal Disk and wondered why it was only half the rated speed. Oh well it's still way faster then the WD 500GB HDD which is now a 2nd drive for storage. These are impressive little machines for a basic PC user that can be upgraded albeit to a point.
Good video, It inspired me. I bought one instead of the sun F80. The heat factor for the F80 was a concern. The full 1.2TB instead of 4x 200GB was for me the tie breaker. My system is a dual boot. Windows 10 drivers was easy to install. Linux drivers was more demanding. After a lot of trials and errors and research on the internet, I manage to have it mount on Linux Mint, rc.local instead of fstab. Now both OS can access the drive. Thank You!
Anyone know how to revert the disk from 512 to 520 ? I got some disks that need to be reformatted to 520bytes - but sg3 utils command fails for "--size=520"
Yeah, the pad situation on the M50X is AWFUL. I'm glad I'm not the only one complaining, after about a year of not using mine after just 2 days of very light use the are already flaking. I did order an original replacement but I'm not sure I'm going to put up with this situation much longer. The Brainwavz pads do seem to have some awful reviews out there though (the ones made out of sheepskin leather). Especially their website and some of their deceptive practices. So I'm gonna try something different.
