HP T730 "thin" client overview 

Edited from my initial question "Would these make a good daily driver?" YES! I built one for a neighbors kid going to college last week. I upgraded it with 16GB DDR3 Crucial Rip Jaws $55, and a Western Digital 500gb M.2 SATA drive from Amazon for around $60. The thing runs like a champ! Waaaay faster than I thought with the SSD w/Fedora32 KDE Spin. He is going to put in a 2 or 4gb low profile PCI Express card in it next month and I will update this post. I believe the Display Ports will do 4k but they will only go 30fps and he wants to play some games. Don't know if it will effect anything but I believe 60fps is more desirable for games. Ran all OfficeSuite programs, multiple browsers, even Kodi well. I want one for myself now! Thanks for all your insight on this machine it really helped with the build

This thing idles at 25watts? Nope, not a good pfsense router appliance, t620 plus atleast ides around 6watts and never go beyond 12watts on my watt meter

What type of WiFi card can be used ? I tried m2 Intel 9260 but only Bluetooth works and no WiFi adapter shown on device manager. Can you suggest something

Does it support NVMe on the m.2 port? I have a T630 and am wondering what ssd to buy. Interestingly, the T630 has two m.2 slots, 5w idle power consumption and passive cooling. It has slower cpu clock speeds though. PS subbed :)

Does it make sense to run a NAS (w 2 M.2 2TB SSDs) in this box? Obviously one has to be mounted on the PCIe card. Thanks

few things... the riser is not 75w it is limited to 25w (called hp to try and figure out why a gt 1030 under load would make it lock up and restart... turned the power down in msi and its been fine at -20 power and stock clocks). I have the t620+ with 2x4gb (sadly the t620+ is single channel only) and a gt 730 (gddr5) and 2 64gb msata SSD's (masts to m.2 adaptor) and its my 10 year old kids pc in her room... I have the t730 with 2x8gb of ram and a 128gb m.2 with the underclocked gt 1030 in my minivan (using a laptop power supply and a hdmi to component adaptor using the stock flipdown in a 08 honda odyssey)... great video

I got one comeing in I found a compatible Ramset too get in it too 32 gb cheaply Id like too get an external video card expand the storage and see what I can achieve affordably

Had to laugh when you opened it up and it has a CPU fan. I just bought a used HP t620 and this has extensive piping and "heatsinkery", so guaranteed to be silent. These i.e. t730 are okay for 200 dollars, but they're about 620 pounds new in the UK, which is 780 US dollars (including taxes), which is ridiculous as I paid 600 pounds (about $745) for an HP MiniProDesk G5 with Core i5-9500T, 8GB RAM and 250GB SSD, Win 10 Pro only 2 months ago in January. Okay you can put a new graphics card in the t730, which you can't doin a ProDesk G5 Mini (but you can in the SFF version), plus surely this AMD processor surely is much slower than even my 6 core i5-9500T. Okay, I'm waffling on a bit here, but the t730 seems to have become so "bloated" compared to the previous t620 and t620 plus that it's not really a "thin client" anymore and I can't see much use for these at retail price for the average home user. The question is why are these available for 200 dollars after a year or two of use when businesses are buying them for about three times this price? I thought the whole point of large organisations buying thin clients is that they are supposed to be trouble free for at least 5 years minimum?
