I had to dump the frame from my dad's soft top. Kept the soft top half doors and just put on the bikini top. Interestingly he never had those rails you put on at 2:48. Those would make a mile of difference; do you know if they sell just those rails?
I have an 88 too! Mine has the Peugeot BA10/5 Transmission (4.2l engine) with the internal slave. I had the same issue. You can try bleeding it to make sure there is no air in the line. If that doesn't work you have to drop the transmission/skid plate and replace the slave cylinder. Dropped my 3 times due to the slave cylinder crapping out. Make sure you get a quality metal slave cylinder and not the plastic one from the box autoparts stores. I learn the hard way lol. I had 2 plastic ones fail on me. Dropping the transmission is not as bad as it seems.
I got the 2.5 kit from rough country for my 95 YJ. I started with the rear leaf spring. I got the old off but when I tried to mount the new one the guide bolt on the leaf spring was about 1 inch forward of the hole on the axel plate. I could not figure out how to get it to line up. Any suggestions?
They give you another bolt / nut and sleeve with the kit. What is that for? The tapered bolt wouldn't fit through the hole in my tie rod bar at all - and it's OEM. Not even close. I used that extra bolt / nut and sleeve instead.
I'd update the electrical system with a better alternator (something between 100-150 amp is good) and larger wires. Keep the stock ride height and put in some lockers. Lockers will get you way more places than a lift kit ever will. Bigger tires will require a re-gear 4.88 is good for 35" tires. I like 33" since these jeeps have weak axles. Could put in chromoly shafts and delete the CAD for more reliable 4x4. A lift would be one of my last items unless your suspension was garbage and needed to be redone anyway. Just my $.02 P.S. - Nice YJ bro
Wow! Looks like a CJ from the side. I think I’m gonna install this kit on my 87YJ. I don’t really want the extra lift, but this kid is so much cheaper and easier than finding all the OEM parts. And it’s probably a ride improvement over OEM. My yj looks super low
