Good luck with your training, Chloe! I like the approach of not tinkering too much with your training when it's been working so well for you, and staying healthy and putting up a string of PBs is about as well as you can do. Sub 88 this time seems very achievable.

All the best with keeping the half marathon PB streak going Chloe. Good to hear how you're approaching the training with some things staying the same and some changes. Have you got particular gels you like already? I tend not to get on with gels but have liked veloforte as they're quite natural
@ChloeHamard
@ChloeHamard 23 дня назад
Thanks Ben! I was using Veloforte gels before, I like most flavours but at my last half marathon race when it got warm the gel tasted so vile I couldn't finish it lol. Since then I've been using Precision gels, hopefully their neutral flavour will do better in the Spanish heat!

Btw, I had to look up the lady in red nearest the camera, racing in France with the name of "Perrier."😁 I didn't recognize her or the uniform, but she's from Mauritius, resides in France, mostly a trail runner sponsored by Hoka (thus wearing Hokas) who ran a qualifying time in Valencia. I'm sure there were lots of stories in the field that we don't usually hear like that, in her case someone who didn't become a serious runner until a bit later in life.

There’s something inspiring, interesting or even in some cases relatable about all the athletes that lined up in Paris. I know a lot more about many of them after looking them up because they were on the start list. I didn’t even know much about the French marathoners before the weekend!

Absolutely epic, the #1 and #2 women in history side by side with a mile to go, but one of them was also the #2 women's miler in history and that was the difference. It got interesting at about the same point on the course as where the men's race was all but decided.

Well done hanging in there to the finish and coming away with a very fine result, Chloe. @largeeddie
@largeeddie Месяц назад
@@ChloeHamard I'm not a "death before DNF" person myself, and my old man wisdom (if I may make such a claim) is that slippery slopes typically aren't as slippery or slopey as we suppose. But I've always finished races even when they went badly because grinding the rest of the way seemed faster and easier than finding some other way back, and also since I'm paying to run I might was well get my money's worth. I think it's rather funny though that professional runners quite often step off the course and save their legs for another day as soon as they realize that they'll be out of the prize money and the time won't do anything to improve their profile. For all the things that we do "like a pro," as recreational runners we desperately avoid imitating that one. But at this stage of life, my character has been tested and found wanting enough times and nothing I do while running is going to change that.😅
