Obviously these sounds are tailored to sculk, so they have something with the deep dark. But everyone keeps saying these noises also sound like the end portal- is no one gonna talk about the fact that there is literally a giant deepslate frame in the middle of the ancient city that for more than 2 years has been under suspect of being a portal!? Perhaps at one point that portal was able to be opened and no longer is. The cave sounds we're hearing are ghostly remnants of past historical sounds, kind of like how some believe the old cave sound allude to a mineshaft accident. In the real world, some believe that ghosts or spirits reinact their past life routines and even emanate noises from the past, so perhaps Minecraft is hinting at a darker meaning that the vast caves and caverns of our blocky sandbox are haunted by spirits of who once were the zombies and skeletons, the ones who once thrived in the mighty civilizations of the trail ruins and ancient cities. These sounds are remnants of what that ancient portal sounded like booting up, thousands of years ago...
Another method: always take at least 2 enderchests with you and a flint and steel in your enderchest. You can pick up your flint and steel, break down your enderchests using a non silk touch pickaxe, then build a portal and lite it.
