I really resonate with this, I am really struggling with balancing my school work and my job and I am at a point where I feel so demotivated and stuck and I am having my deregistration thoughts.
The registration thoughts visit me weekly! 😂 Also the general challenges of being an adult don’t make things easier, but I believe that there is always a silver lining 🥹
Wow you look great Ruth!❤ Thank you so much for always for coming back and being so vulnerable. 😢 You are phenomenal and wish you all the best in this new chapter of stability 🎉
Thank you for the great video. I have a similar experience with you. I am starting a PhD and I have to prepare for big career exams (unrelated to the PhD). So i need to prioritize and plan accordingly. It is indeed overwhelming. I am also an inconsistent person, it is especially challenging for me to commit to my long term goals, but I am trying my best! Thank you for the inspiration !
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Mina 🥹 I can definitely relate to the commitment part, especially because post-grad is a long-term commitment with seemingly no end in sight in the beginning 🤧 Despite this, we shall overcome ✊🏼
For someone who wants to start teaching online, I’ve been really struggling to find a website I can really sign up for. Can you recommend a few perhaps. Really am inspired from this ❤️ I’m a qualified teacher but it’s really tough getting a job so decided to use my TEFL certificate to use
Hey there. I recently made a video about several online teaching platforms, let me attach a link of it below for you to have a look please. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d2ohRJAw7_I.htmlsi=WKBtZS4WkY-jpbPn
Another reputable company is called "The Faculty" they have in-center positions for people living in KZN and online positions for everyone else thefaculty.global/vacancies/
I have just started on Native Camp and so far have been unsuccessful in getting any students...Any tips on how to get students as a beginner at Native Camp or is it just a patient game
Hello Nuaym. I am sorry to hear that getting students has been really hard for you, I think platforms such as Native Camp and Preply have become really saturated over the years with a surplus of teachers. I think it's easier to get a job and teach immediately on platforms which require a university degree, or platforms based in South Africa. Let me send you a link to one called The Faculty, with just a matric certificate you can teach here.
Please get a free TESOL Certificate online on Teacher Record, it will increase your chances of employment. Here is a link: teacherrecord.com/tefl-certificate
Thank you for watching! If you apply to teach at an international school, yes they will take you. Please note that you you also can teach English at an elementary school with your life skills experience, apply through the EPIK Program ❤️
What you said about the attention to your hair is so real. I have locs so I don’t change from wigs to braids to afro or anything like that, but let’s say I get a side part. At work, there’ll be so many comments from students AND teachers like “teacher, new hairstyle?” I wear my hair in a ponytail “teacher, new hairstyle?” I wear a headband “teacher new hairstyle?” Like it seems nice and harmless but I feel like a spectacle.
"New hairstyle" comments when you have locs is insane! 🤣 Yes it seems very harmless, and it's so difficult to explain to others why these comments can be frustrating. Feeling like a spectacle and being judged according to your looks so intensely and consistently is really draining. Thanks for watching, love and light ❤️
Its good to see you back. Im really appreciating the point on a safety need and how working abroad doesnt guarantee you employment when you go bacn home as the job market is extremely hard to infiltrate. Are you only looking into working in public schools in SA or you would also work in private schools?
Hey Ms P! Congratulations on your move to Korea, been seeing you adjusting ❤️ Yes I think creating a solid exit strategy and having savings as a safety net is really important when teaching abroad. I am applying for positions in both private and public schools 🥹
It's really something else hey. But I'm definitely seeing and learning things I do not like and will not hang around for. But I told myself that for as long as I'm here I'm going to take it a day at a time and I always need to check in with myself. I'm glad you applying for both and hope you get something soon. And have you ever considered teaching at international schools elsewhere where you will be subject focused or you wanting to be at home for now?
What gets to me with online teaching is that you don't always feel like you're making an impact. The students are customers at the end of the day and they usually want things done perfectly in a short space of time.
Yessss. We give positive feedback and tips for students to improve, but they come back and make the same mistakes. It's all just about customer service 😢
Having to smile all the time and laughing at things that are not even funny😪... Having to always ask questions like "How was your weekend/week/day" only to get an answer with a yes or no🥲. Hai issa alot! It's like you don't really have to be there with that person but REALLY have to be there because we need to make money/show up to avoid bad rating😑
The one-word answers are such a nightmare! Especially because the student can keep their camera off, but ours has to stay on 😬 May better opportunities locate us soon ❤🙏
Loved this episode! Very practical too I must say. Building a community and relationships is sooo key; I cannot express how much I’ve been carried by my academic circle of friends. 🥹🫶🏿.
As someone who has restarted in life more than once, I can boldly say that the Grace of God is sufficient for all of us, and I am excited that a lot more people have come to realise the only way you can have peace and sound mind in this world is through faith alone in Christ alone. Honestly, celebrities being saved and living now to Glorify God just strengthen my faith more, and it goes to show that God is Alive.
@zamazikode678 exactly mntase. Especially when one comes from a disadvantaged background, there are things that will automatically delay or slow down the speed at which goals are achieved. So we need to remain fully dependant on God, obedient, and patient ❤️❤️
Thank you Mtase, I really needed this. It’s always encouraging to know that you’re not the only one struggling. And you made an important point of tailoring your journey to your own unique circumstances and that comparison is the thief of JOY.
Thank you so much for watching mntase, and for the affirmation. Life can lead us to make a detour ever so often in our journey, which can be a little discouraging. However, just staying in your own lane and being fulfilled with your own path is the best antidote ❤❤
I love the perspective that you came with, I think it difficult for people to accept change in general but this video was a wonderful reminder for us all to feed our souls with the word of God.
Yessss 🥹❤️ The only constant thing in life is change. We need to remain patient while we adjust to all those life changes, and lean on God, not our own understanding 🙏
Thank you Chommie! I was a bit skeptical about doing social commentary but I am loving this approach to the podcast. I would love to have you as a guest hle, we will make a plan 😉❤️
