I have been using Linux Mint for years after leaving Ubuntu. It is stable. Missing features: PDF reader features for students, Global menu applet, Wayland support, and PUBG gaming.
ZorinOS has been amazing. I've recommended it to family and friends and even people who know nothing about computers or Linux were able to use it. It's the best looking distro out there and also extremely user friendly.
@@ArcTechnologies Nice to see that. I hope the English-speaking community will have the opportunity to get the English script next time. Thanks in advance)
That question has been weighing on my mind lately. I’ve been thinking about finding all of the default GNOME/Adwaita icons and making rounded square versions of them, with 3D aesthetics and light/dark themes. I’ll probably start with the integrated core apps, the highest rated apps, and the most downloaded apps on the GNOME desktop - using a universal OS-neutral open source equivalent as a template for each one when possible.

pitty they didn't extend the color picker to the folder color in Files. it looks weird with the blue folders... maybe next time.
Damn, Gnome really is the only DE with actual UI and UX designers. I wish KDE can step up their game - they look like a cheap copy of Windows 11 with high contrast even tho Microsoft was the copycat.
@@ouro2164 i love gnome and used it since years, in fact it was Pop OS which convinced me. But it was plenty modified, gnome vanilla didnt appeal to me. And System 76 showed a problem with gnome, that is their developpers dont listen to users or other developpers. System 76 has professional users and decided after a long struggle to develop their own DE (a mistake in my opinion). So they may have a point.
Yes, nothing better than apps with barely any functionality. The entirety of Gnome's apps are basically useless, because they offer literally no functions. Loupe? Can't do something as basic as crop a picture. Gnome's approach to UX/UI is basically "remove all functions that we arbitrarily deem useless", so they don't have to actually design anything. Nautilus is kind of slow, despite only offering half the functionality of Dolphin.
@@ouro2164 "Tell me you never used KDE without telling me you never used KDE." KDE is way ahead of GNOME (pronounced Guh-NOME) in every single way. GNOME is the worse DE in comparison and is worse in customization too, having to install another app to change basic settings like getting back the minimize and maximize buttons and needing an extension for blur in the DE is so clunky, the only thing GNOME has going for is familiarity and that too will slowly be fading away as KDE gets updated to have even more features.

Great Video 😍, and quality is excellent. Can you suggest video editor and images manipulation software that suit well with gtk4 and utilizes nvidia / intel integrated gpu. Also I am happy to know how you are handling image, video and audio... Are you using linux for production ?
Yes I use Nector for creating thumbnails. I developed the app myself... I'll try to launch it when it's ready enough. GIMP is great btw. For editing, I use DaVinci Resolve.
@@franklin_johnson01The only problem with DaVinci Resolve on Linux is lack of H264 input/output in the free version, because Linux OS doesn't contain any free codec that Resolve could use. So it can't do it. But it exists in the paid version of Resolve.
I have used multiple distros but yes I also agree that Fedora is one of the best as I didn't face any major problems with it. Only thing I didn't found solution on linux which I daily drive is the Verifying Digital Signatures on PDF, do you have any workaround with this??
Running ubuntu or its official derivative whether it is kubuntu lubuntu xubuntu etc feel slower due to snaps. better to use mint as base and install your fav DE. BTW how is it using debian sid ?
i know i'm preaching to the wrong crowd here, but i'm actually sick of rigid UI consistency. yes, apps should follow a common language, like hamburger menus or menu bars, but all frameworks and designs should be treated equally, not squished to conform to a DE. GTK 3+4, and Qt need to BOTH be first class, with respectful themeing that allows for variation in palettes for apps that want to do it a certain way. i don't agree that client side decorations should be enforced, neither should server side. Linux is a diverse platform, you can't expect a DE to have specific versions of every workflow, multiple versions of every project. that said, as long as there is good support for any framework, i'm fine with there being more projects for the same task that only differs in design, that's fine. if its good, i might use it, but i don't want to have difficulties using what i prefer because i'm using the wrong DE, i use GTK and Qt apps at the same time.
did you try using sudo? i have no clue what the permission hierarchy is in VOS but i always use sudo for installing and modifying applications because some commands don't have warnings for it
