Welcome to Murr-made Designs. I am Alice Murray and I will be showing you 365 days of garments that I have made for myself and other family members. I love sewing. I love learning about sewing. I love the challenge and creativity of making something beautiful and functional. If you love the art of sewing, you are in the right place. If you are a seasoned seamstress or a beginner, hopefully you will find inspiration here.
Hi, I have printed off the front and back Version 1 but now want to add the sleeves. Do I need to print off the version 3 or can I just add the sleeves to version 1? Will they fit or is the armscye very different? Thank you.
Just found your review. I am on my third test for this pattern. I had to add four inches in length and nearly three inches on the wrap front for coverage. The second test gaped terribly in the front, so I pitched out the gape and redrew my pattern. Hoping this third test will be a wearable one. I wouldn’t have thought of a band, but it looks great and added interest to your top. Thank you for sharing!
I take it that fabric store no longer sells fabric. All I could see is that they do printing services. I am always on the lookout for new fabric stores in Canada.
Thought you would go into more of how to sew this pattern. Getting stuck at the facing for the back, confusing instructions. Not done this style or process before.
Wish I’d found your video sooner! Just sewed it up and it doesn’t fit!! I’m going to try the gusset idea in the back and I’ll hopefully figure out the drape!!
I made a muslin sample out of the pattern after watching your video. When it came time for the waterfall piece, I believe the instructions are very misleading. What I did was study the picture in the directions and it worked. Your dress looks great on you.
'stunning and elegant dress. Pleats are a great idea as are extending the cap sleves - you made it better than the photo on the envelope. Consider, loosely gathered ruffles should you want to add them in future. Love the fact that you made this pattern your own.
Hi Alice, new to your channel. Love this video!! How fun (& ambitious!) to make all the options included in the pattern. Loved seeing the different looks you put together with the pieces. I really, really loved this. Maybe I'll get the spark to try something like this. You must be a speed sewist! Also, love that chunky flower necklace. Thanks so much! Angela
Thank you so much Dara. Life just got in the way. I'm okay. I will be back. I only made it to 213 and I hate not making it to 365. I will keep going. Just not sure when. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.
Not sure if youre gonna receive this Alice but i thought id try anyway. I used to watch your videos every day. I thought they were brilliant. I was willing you to make the 365 days and then you just disappeared. I just couldn't find you. I check back now and again to see if you have started up again. If you get this message and you feel you are able can you let me know what happened? Best wishes Linda
Thanks so much Linda. I'm fine. Just a whole lot of life happened. I made it to 213. I'll be back. I hate leaving things undone. Thanks for the kind words and the encouragement!
Dear Alice, I have so missed seeing your daily posts that I am going to start rewatching all your posts. All the tips, pattern and fabric recommendations.
@@alicemurraymurr-madedesign1686 Thanks, I'll look at the pattern, see if that would work. Where I live it's just too chilly for low necks most of the year! I'm working my way through your Covid capsule wardrobe videos - I love wearing comfortable clothes, better still.stylish ones like yours😊.
Hi, I understand you made the shorts from Kwik Sew 4262, quite nice. However, the volume or cutting for video wasn't clear about your lovely top. Did you use the Kwik Sew 4262 to alter your top? I just found out my back pattern for my top #2 is printed "k4233" and is way too big, not k4262. Hope your pattern back is correct!
It was a terrible pattern for the top. I modified heavily. Here is the longer video that talks more about the challenges of the top.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xQGE8ceEGAk.html
It isn't anyone's business what you do with your clothing. Like you said this is your journey and the clothes you are making represent a lifetime of trying to purchase ready to wear clothing that never fit! You have probably purchased 365 items over the years! You are doing an amazingly difficult challenge. I think it is awesome! Your critic would do better to point their nose into their own business.
I can't figure out what they are saying about reinforcing corners of the front. If I sew the stitch lines and than to the small dot...than cut to the small dot it is going to be a long cut. It's number 1 of the instructions. Hope you can help and I made sence 🥺 I figured it out, yay shirt is almost done!😃
Hi Alice, I hope that you had a wonderful summer with a break and some much deserved rest. It's time for fall sewing and we're ready to see what you're up to. God Bless, J
Thank you so much! Planning to get back to it. Might be a little later in the fall as I have family coming to stay for a month and a half. But I will be back. Promise. Have to finish my 365 for sure!
No. I made it to 213 and then became overwhelmed with homeschooling my grandsons and spring farm work. Now the world it opened up I am on the road visiting my grandbabies I haven't seen in 18 months. I will get back at it in the fall. Have to finish what I started. Enjoy your summer. Thanks so much for checking in!
i'm making these exact trousers at the moment and am at the toile stage- I have really skinny legs though and the backs of my thighs look like curtains swags there's so much surplus fabric - i was quite surprised because the picture looks so slim fit so i've had to make quite a number of adjustments (so far... still quite a way off how I want them to look) I've also eliminated the pocket from mine - i love a pocket but they always seem to poof out at the side on me. I've only been sewing since december so i'm probably an idiot for diving into trousers this soon in the game but live n learn etc.
Good for you! Yes indeed. We learn by doing. I don't think I have made a single thing I haven't had to modify. That is the beauty of sewing. We get clothes that fit our bodies. Unlike ready to wear. I hope after you make them and you are happy with the fit, that you make a second pair in a different colour. I seem to learn the most when I do the same thing twice or three times in a row.
@@alicemurraymurr-madedesign1686 that's a great point actually! and yeah i have 4 pairs to make because i live in the uk and have been in lockdown for pretty much 1.5 years now with this virus and have somehow lost so much weight I only have one pair of trousers that still fit! one in every colour!
