We started off as a website and youtube channel back in 2007 covering BlackBerry Smartphones, which we did for over 15 years, but heading into 2023 we relaunched as the CrackBerry Tech Circus! We cover whatever tickles our fancy. Sometimes that means the latest and greatest new consumer tech and gadgets. Other times we get serious and focus on important topics today like privacy and security. We also love quirky and weird stuff that makes your life better. And you know we'll always have a soft spot in our hearts for phones with keyboards.
Please subscribe, turn on notifications and I hope you stick around for the ride as I relaunch this channel and have some fun!
I remember I used to take pretty pictures with this. I still have them on my disk, mostly pictures of plants, and other objects, even a fly resting on a leaf! About the phone, it is currently down, when turned on, it quickly drains the battery, but hopefully it can still be repaired. This camera was too good at the time, speaking from my experience with the phone.
Blackberry gave everyone the possibility to stay anonymous on phone calls, text message, email, et BBM.. I’m pretty convinced that couldn’t fit with personal data business model from Meta / Google / Microsoft… plus if any prohibited activities had to be monitor be security agencies, it was way more difficult to access personal data over a Blackberry OS and Hardware. Remember that BB was created by a bunch a geeks but who also were genuinely idealists and dreamers. They thought that giving privacy to anions (including people with bad behaviour) was a good idea. I’m pretty sure many government agencies were couldn’t admit that basically anyone could have access to a « budget James Bond secure phone »…. That couldn’t also disturb BB competitors , if the fall of BB would means no possibility for costumers to get privacy in any OS, that really wasn’t going to be a bad thing for them.
16 years before I saw this gem. Hindsight is everything. Thanks for the innovation, RIM, wish you had kept some market share so people like me could use one in this wacky, insecure day and age.
Everything you need to know about the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in 10 minutes. Well, maybe not everything, but this will give you a pretty solid look at the Bold 9900's hardware and BlackBerry 7 software. Be sure to check out CrackBerry for our full BlackBerry Bold 9900 Review!
Man, you just can't beat the 9900 (or the 9930 I had)! I LOVED that phone! I liked the Passport, too, but it was just too top-heavy. I had a Classic "later on" but never gave it much use. I sometimes regret that.
I loved BlackBerry and miss them still... always loved Kevin's work and glad these are still public viewing. RIM never could get their hardware and software to work well together (among other miscalculations)
the idea of this phone was perfect but the camera was shocking. Idk if i needed to mess with the settings but it took too long to take pictures so anything moving would be blurry. and i just much preferred IOS to Android so ditched this phone only after a couple years i think. very sad.
