Thank you! Yea the built in Jack is great for recording and adding FX. There's a 10% discount link in the video description if you do decide to pick one up 😀
Yea they are definitely an investment. But they are slightly more affordable than other very high quality tongue drums (i.e. Rav Vast, YW Pulsar Guda drum etc.) to be fair
@MoeShinola1 yea handpans are quite inaccessible for music hobbyists unfortunately. I think the NewWave15 is a good substitute for those with a higher budget but still don't want to break the bank completely
Glad you enjoyed! yea it has a line in that you can run external instruments through. But only 1 effect at a time. I added additional effects through the amp and post recording 😊
I would get whichever one you like the sound of and note selection the best. The New Wave drum really has a unique sound, plus more notes, a good built in jack etc. ..but if you only want it because of it's pickup, yes, you can use the magnetic mics on any tongue drum. That being said, I only have experience with the Etsy magnetic mic (link is in the description), which works great, but not any cheaper magnetic mics that may be available. The cheaper pick-ups from Amazon, like in this video, may struggle with getting a loud enough output. If it's any help, I recently made a video comparing the New Wave to other drums as well m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PFQyP_Nzzlw.html&pp=ygURbmV3IHdhdmUga29zbW9za3k%3D
@@DylanFerno Thank you for answering me 🫶🏻 I know I want a New Wave as my first, but was wondering if I should choose the one with or without the built in pickup ☺️ (I chose the one with the pickup.) 🤩
@@DylanFerno i think I used you discount, but not totally sure. I tried your link, but the discount didn’t show up, so I tried to write in «Dylan» at checkout to see if I would get it, and it worked. Might have been a different Dylan, but I doubt it. The other channels on RU-vid have a 5% discount, so yours was an easy pick - and very welcome. ❤️🙌🏻
Dear good synth bro Dylan, the sections covering multipercussion with xlab is so usefull as are all your tips, thanks for the great ideas, had mine for about a year now and still figuring out new ways to use the awesome machine, appreciate the helps, you the Man !!!
I love the Kosmosky Drums, I own 3 of them including the new Wave 15. It’s so cool to have 15 notes in the G Major Scale. I uploaded two Shorts recently playing a Beatles and a Pink Floyd Song, would love for anyone who reads this to check it out and get some Feedback 🙏 The RAV Vast, Kosmosky, and YW Pulsar Tonguedrums are the best Tonguedrums on the Market imo. Like to have found your channel, subscribed 👍
Although Kosmosky drums sounded nice, it takes a long time for the sound of a note to stop. Too much reverberation which can be a nuisance if you want to play a music.
yea good point. I think this is mostly a pro of the drum for ambient music. But when playing with other instruments you can mute its reverbation by holding your hand or mallet on the notes after striking them
@@DylanFerno That’s the kind of thing that’ll last you at least 30 years. So amortizing it comes to about 3 cents a day. AND should be worth a lot more at the end of the 30 years, leaving you with a half a lifetime of exquisite sounds and a profit ! I’ll take it !
Sorry, but for Tome and Resonance the Cheap Drum IS the better From. A Musical Instrument is for PLAYING, for it's SOUND!, so if you want something to LOOK at, get a Painting. .
@@DylanFerno It's good to have an open mind Does the Fancy One have a picture hook attachments for wall hanging ? Does it have those 3 little rubber feet that allows it to sit stable on floor, desk, chair or stand ??? Those Under Tongues still mess up the Top Tones, harmonically overlap resonating, and shorten it resonating time. If you want to damp a Tone, you only have to put your Hand on it. If the Tone ain't there, you can't extend it. Altogether a WONDERFUL Instrument that is Brand New to me (at 72 and for 5 Years Studio set up Groups, Big Bands and ENTIRE Symphonic Orchestras complete with PRRCUSSION SECTIONS !!!), I don't know how I missed The Tongue Drum. It's most ASTONISHING Features:- It breaks ALL the Drum Percussion Rules offering the Full Scale + 2 from, (not counting the feet), ONE SINGLE COMPONENT and needing no other parts to work effectively. Is this a NEW Invention ? My Female Percussionist would have KILLED yo get one. Take Care. DDDOOO000ooonnG !!!!!!!
@a.bloke2.0alwayslearning.23 Hey so it doesn't have any attachments for wall hanging. I made my own hook to hang it up. It has 3 tiny rubber feet that fell off. I use a singing bowl cushion underneath it for maximum resonance. It's very cool that you have such a history with music. I think the instrument was created around 2007 or so, so it is a relatively new instrument but yea it's really cool and can easily be hooked up to speakers directly with a magnetic contact microphone
Hey dude I just got my third xFM I keep selling and coming back. And I've become fascinated with this unique instrument. I found a lot of your advice very useful especially using the xform to have kick and snare without sound locking. Very smart. I really think the xfm and liven series are so unique , fun to use and versatile I'll be using this for many years. It's capable of beauty and filth! And packs so many features into a cheap little plastic keyboard. I will carry it everywhere! 😂 Thanks a lot this was informative!
Happy something was helpful in here! I agree about everything you said about the Liven series. Love what you said about beauty and filth. Its also capable of everything in between. Such is life 😀
Thanks. How do you replace the strings of it and can we use nylon strings instead of metalic? Do they make electric versions of it? Great video! The hand made produces more harmonics than the factory made.
Great video, was going to buy one for the studio. Might get a hand made one, Tuning is important and the high notes had a slight distortion to them with the cheap one.
Really happy it was helpful! this is the only Liven I have and I think it is the deepest as a pure synth so probably wouldn't have as many tips on the other ones tbh
Extremely glitchy and noisy aha. It has a ridiculous amount of modulation capabilites and you can record these parameter changes to each step 👍 I prefer it over Model:Cycles based alone on it having a polyphonic keyboard...but that's just my preference
@@DylanFerno Cool!! I just found out the Mega Synthesis version has 6 tracks instead of 4... The FM engines don't seem as rich but it's simpler to operate and for drums should be enough
