What about HMS Invincible and the great Sharkey Ward. The man who understood how to use the Blue Fox. He also got Morts to obtain the position of the Argentine carrier. Long live 801 NAS the premier squadron of the Falklands.
Sadly, there is hardly any footage from Invincible, like this footage. The film crews were all moved to Hermes because HRH Prince Andrew was serving aboard Invincible. Sharkey and 'Morts' are legends. Here is a talk by 'Morts' given at Yeovilton a few years ago; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IT_ff8XNLrE.html
Well it all looks like fun but that was far from the truth. We were on Beira Patrol, 3 months non stop at sea. It wasn't voluntary they sent the Regulating Staff down the messes and cleared everyone out to get up on the Flightdeck. For many that meant loss of sleep off watch when needed most, we worked 4 hours on watch then 4 hiurs off in the Enginerooms.. I had a broken big toe in a cast and made to wear flip flops and do the PT. Needless and thoughtless.
Too much arrogance isn't helpful !!!! Now US Soldiers are reluctant, and even refusing to leave NIGER, a west African country that asked US soldiers to leave and go back to their country !!!!! Why so much arrogance and intimidation ???? If you are not wanted in someone house or country as a visitor or a guest, why don't you leave ?????? Occupiers and invaders, especially former Western coloniser are not needed on our Mother land , AFRICA !!!!!!! USA military should simply leave IRAK, SYRIA, LIBYA and other middle East or African countries who don't want them on their soil !!!!!!!!! If African countries don't have military bases in the USA, FRANCE , etc...why the latter would impose or force their military bases in Africa ???? Neo-colonialism is over, please !!!!!!!!
Of coursei it's impossible not to admire Roly Beamont. But some of the received opinion and consensus around the TSR2 goes largely unquestioned and unchallenged. The F111 conspiracy theory is not exactly replete with evidence (although the complete destruction of the airframes and tooling is very odd). And his point about the Falklands seems mildly unhinged.
Tactical Communications Wing, Mobile Catering Unit, Tactical Supply Wing. Spent 7 years all told of my RAF Career providing Comms for these boys and the Helicopters... From Belize to Norway. Good years. Food (if we had MCSU Support was superb thanks boys) TSW did the fuel and bits. We were very good, even if I do say so myself. Thanks for posting.
I was a JT airframes at Gutersloh from '81 to '84. I used to do these field deployments and was also part of the BDR distaff team for exercise Lionheart. For a 22 year old it was a great life on the Harrier as part of 2 ATAF. We worked very hard but also had a great leisure time with the lovely German people.
That's brilliant! We'll have to interview you some time... Have you seen this video, filmed in 78 during a dispersed training deployment from Gutersloh? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x-WWRawWZNY.html
HAHAHA Lmao all the dude is a joke. I always wonder how in the hell black hawk had the pass to go down to hell. They can't park that thing there. Now I see the reason
One of the soldiers “stibbons” is a child molester ! Doing a 30 year federal sentence for r@&ing his own daughter They completely leave him out of the story and the movie ! Look it up
Now watching this documentary it makes me wonder why is it that the govt didn't inform the troops on the ground etc, some very bad bad decisions were made and innocent lives had to ay for them smh...
I thought Americans were 0-3 in my lifetime with Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. I forgot about Somalia. So Americans are now 0-4 in my book just in my lifetime. They've never won a war since the war of independence in 1783, only with the help of the French. WWI, Americans didn't join until 1917 when it was almost over. WWII 86% of the German casualties were on the Eastern front fighting the Russians. Russia won WWII. America, your military is a joke. Let it go and let the world live in peace.
Aidid son was a marine and fought during blackhawk down as an interpreter. When his father died he was back state side and he was named leader of his fathers faction so he then went back to somalia as leader trying to take over as president. He then signed a peace treaty with the president
When you fight an enemy like that you shouldn’t be restricted by the war conventions. Those rules should only apply when you fight others who also abide by them
My infant son had just passed when this happened, so i didnt pay much attention except to think about the complacency that our military had been in since bushes private war.
All these Documentary's always leave out the US Marines were there first, they HAD! Mohamed Farrah Aidid detained a certain alphabet agency said he's no one. AS if they didn't know EXACTLY who he was. Never mind his son, Hussein Farrah Aidid was a fucking US Marine in Artillery at the time and served as an interpreter in Operation Restore Hope. I was in the nearest MEU watching on tv as they dragged the dead Delta and pilots through the streets and they instead wanted to handle getting the downed pilot back through diplomatic channels.
Fred Collins said he was injured in this battle. He also said his cousins who were firefighters were killed in 911 but there is no record of them as victims. I say he is lying
One of the Haz teams out at Bruggen got a "Disgruntled airman" inject by one of the di staff during an exercise, (basically a free pass to mess around for a bit) the crew turned up to fly he saw them through the peephole and told them to go to the side entrance, which they did, he then told them to go to the front entrance. After a few back and forwards a very pissed off crew went storming back to the PBF lol.
Crazy to think now some of those us soldiers sleep on the streets while some of those Somalian militia are living the high life in government funded housing
We are Americans this was not supposed to happen!! Famous last words.. underestimate your enemy and you will lose every time. Just like Afghanistan and Vietnam.
