Hi Tim. I understand a video was a fair few year ago. I'm guessing here using powered milk here to make them harder without boiling, how long do you think it would take for the baits to break down please bud Secondly if you don't mind me asking what do you do with your hookbaits are you using the same format bud? This is very interesting

Hey Thanks Andy! I think you'll find that whole milk can be broken down in various homemade ways; there's lots of videos especially on homemade whey - very simple heating with lemon juice or vinegar for instance. Casein requires a bit more chemical but still do-able. I can suggest that in using milks, fermenting of whole milk proteins is in fact the key, and I think is for baits in regards the microbiome nutrient bioavailablity and cellular metabolism :)

Great stuff Leigh, the more questions you ask the more answers you get and the more possibilties to always keep ahead of your fish caution, as bait is always an opportunity or threat; the more success on a bait we have the more fish adapt so we can always keep many steps ahead at all times by keeping developing and exploiting our very own creativity. Using probiotic yoghurts for instance is such a simple starting point for getting bait active, and there's so many more to exploit, aswell as supplementing with methods of creating higher densities of stimulatory organic and amino acids to really make baits fish magnets. The more people keep an open mind the more edges and unique advantages over 'normal' food baits they find! ;)

@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 6 лет назад
Hi Bruce, think about it; why would artificial flavours even work instead of natural ones which carp do actually experience in nature, such as ripe blackberries and blueberries falling from overhanging bushes over the water. Carp code for 'taste' and their forms of 'smell' so many substances which they can experience, which determine for them to sample or further test if a substance is a potential opportunity or threat. And carp like humans have receptor sites constantly adapting to new substances in their experience and environment to exploit. Carp are extremely sensitive to metabolites in nature, and also substances which are also a part of the production of cellular energy, so whether you include in this enzymes, oxides, alcohols, terpenes, oleoresins, any of a massive host of flavanoids, you know anthocyanins, fruit and herb biologically-active substances, including red and black pepper extracts, whole pineapple juice or just it's enzyme bromelain, or fennel or garlic bioactive components, carp will respond as they have potentially profound positive impacts. Some don't even need to have any nutrition, just deliver a blood sugar hit in the case of glucose, fructose fruit sugar, icing sugar, white table sugar etc, honey is different as it's a blend of 3 sugars with biologically-active immunity and other boosting compounds. Why not experiment with red, black, yellow and other strongly-coloured fruits as natural flavours, e.g. blueberry, guava, lemon, lime, cherry, pineapple etc, and watch how carp respond. :)

I have a garden pond that has string algae could I dry that and turn it into a powder do you think?
@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 6 лет назад
You could try. it's much easier to e.g. use a blend of spirulina and broken cell wall chlorella and daphnia powders to start down that kind of route lol... ;)

I think i would rather blend fruit and herbs together then strain juce for flavour to a natural base mix seeds etc. Great vid and thats just my idea on doing same thing, not a hater just posting an idea as i do like round uninformed boilies. Cheers
@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 7 лет назад
Hi Grizzly; thank you. This is precisely the point; it's the entire unoxidised enzyme-active whole fruit and whole herb blend used fresh; it encapsulates maximum potency in baits biological activity as in potency is such an edge over fish bait-conditioned fish feeding caution of course!). Enjoy making your baits and experimenting more and more! :)

Can you do a video about cooking your own hemp, I hope you can reply, thanks in advance
@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 8 лет назад
+JewCJ I can of course, though the quality of hemp in the UK in dry form seems to have dropped considerably in many cases in recent years compared to the past, i.e. not splitting for instance, which is essential to allow all the components to interract with the water column and not be trapped within the insoluble husk. The sugars, oils, proteins, and other compounds released and indeed formed when boiling hemp, are extremely attractive so are a free addition especially useful for incresing concentration of hemp and other particles by storing e.g. by freezing this liquid and re-using it to soak and cook more hemp, crushed tigers, other particles etc. :)

Hi, The French lake I am fishing will not allow shelf life boilies. So I will be making my own for the first time. But once I have frozen them, put them in a cool box for the trip. Would they be o.k to re freeze them if they defrost. Or would.it be better to buy some over there and make my own on site. I liked your vid and will buy your E books Cheers Mark
@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 8 лет назад
+Mark Harley As a total bait beginner it might be best for you to warm up your baits, gradually drying them over about 5 days to about 95+ percent dry, immediately prior to going, take a liquid foods and flavours, attractors, oils blend to soak back into your homemade baits, or perhaps alternatively make your baits up on the bank, taking powder base mix and liquids foods , flavours, sweeteners, activators palatants etc made up as a blend in advance, for instance using whole egg powder instead of egg albumin for better performing more easily soluble baits. Enjoy! :)

I will be buying your book when I get paid. But I would like to know how long can you freeze fresh boilies for? I am going to France next year any frozen boilies I took would thaw on the trip over .I cannot speck the lingo so could have fun trying to buy bait over there. What would be the best plan of action ? Cheers Mark
@carpbaitsecrets
@carpbaitsecrets 8 лет назад
+Mark Harley The trick to keeping frozen boilies fresh is to remove at least one of the conditions that micro-organisms require to impact on baits, heat, and water being 2 factors; you can dry baits out or even salt and sugar preserve them, and include high levels of potent antioxidant spice oils really helps preserve baits. But most of all, remove eggs. And In making bait don't put form before function. ;) Also substances degrade, denature for many reasons and even freezing for months does not prevent some chemical and structural changes, off flavours etc from developing. Buying permits and particles for instance in France is very easy indeed, and for years most tackle shops etc have been selling permits to English-speaking anglers anyway, but when I started going to France in the early Cassein days I had to check out how to ask directions, where supermarkets are, where to buy wine lol and other essentials, camping permits, and everything, but you get by; you've the web now to help with all that, conversation, colloquial French etc, best rehearse before you go, it's so worth it. :) Just remember conditions get extreme in France, it can be extremely hot and extremely cold, and incredibly windy! And French fish are not necessarily easier than English fish, but give them much respect, be sharp as on the hardest water every time, fish smart as you possibly can, and you'll do great. And don't take any notice of 'only this brand / colour / flavour / commercial / or lake's own brand boilie works here' rubbish! Homemades score massively, if you make them with loads of thought (and of course testing!) I've only been making homemades 40 years this year; testing is vital and continual development, of bait and self-development really counts; i.e. learning and thinking out of the box of majority thinking! :) This video is really crazy; i made it years ago, but the big point being to test something like a tiny equivalent of 1 egg liquids worth of mix, in paste form preferably, in different versions, and never just make up e.g. 1 completely new untested 20 kg base mix with no testing! Test and refine again and again and again and learn; it's all a constant process. The course / tuition is an incredibly well proven way to make genuinely optimised homemade baits that work instantly in minimum volumes, that compete exceptionally against leading and popular brand readymades.

+siege0017 Thank you. Hi - I've avoided selling bait like the plague. Genuinely optimised bait is extremely costly per individual bait, but you only need use tiny amounts to achieve incredible results. The idea of selling bait at a price per kg as opposed to potency per bait to me is inconceivable. My aim is to teach people how to most uniquely defeat popular readymade baits by creating homemade baits of not normal kinds; I choose this instead of running a readymade bait company; it means far more to me. :)

Thanks Mr Brewster - I appreciate your comments very much and even more that one of my ebooks is like your bible! I thoroughly recommend all 3 in the series including most especially the feeding triggers, flavour components, sensory system exploitation and water-reactive secrets ebook. The series all expand upon one another and reflect my further huge learning curve which occurred following 25 years using homemades and then going into homemade baits full-time, since 2004. I was offered a place in the BCSG as a result of my ebooks and catches, which was an honour, and a number of my friends are part of it and have a far deeper perspective on things than most anglers, which I really appreciate. :-)
