Hi, I'm Natalie, former elementary school teacher and founder of the RU-vid Channel Primary Focus. Primary Focus teaches parents everything teachers wish they knew, from how to thrive in the classroom to how to keep learning at home.
Part of my reason for leaving teaching was the disconnect between parents and teachers, so I created Primary Focus to educate and prepare parents to work with their children's teachers at all stages of learning, not just when there is an issue. Parents and teachers working together is key to any child's success, and Primary Focus gives parents all the tools they need to make that happen.

i grew up and currently live in utah and when i say the sex education is SEVERE i mean it. i did not have a health class in high school, and my health class in jr high never even mentioned anything related to sexuality and instead told us to ask our parents, which obviously won’t always work! my parents never gave me anything resembling the talk, and i had to find out everything on my own online or from friends. absolutely wild out here
We should be rioting, so many of these are authors who write to make their audience really consider the systems they are a part of. Removing these from schools, where one would hope children go to learn to think critically for themselves, is a blatant tactic to keep the masses meek.
Girl that’s rude that’s you but every teacher is different every gift is perfect for teachers if you don’t appreciate that it costed are budget to get those things then no student ain’t giving you gifts
Your look on Charlotte's Web reason was just sooo great. That is not a reason it to be banned maybe for their kids not to read it sure but my kids or other people kids
As a teacher, I have a no gifting policy. You get paid to do a job. The end. However rough it is. However little you get paid. Rather have your students donate to a good cause or do something for someone in need. God knows there are far too many underprivileged people in this world today.

In my search on Motivation I came across this statement: Praise vs Encouragement. Praise seems to give power to the person doing the praising and encouragement seems to empower the person receiving said encouragement. I was wondering what you thought about this? Great video! I was watching HealthyGamerGG at the time!
yes! I'm so glad you said this. It's easy to give empty praise, this is a great way to reframe it. A lot of people talk abut phasing out the phrase "you're so smart" when kids do well. Better to point out a specific thing they did along the way so they realize it's about hard work and not just being "magically smart"
Beautiful discussion of these topics. And so great to hear the feedback of a teacher who has been in the class environment regarding these books. I remember discussing the banned books and my reactions were as surprised as yours for some of them 😄
@@PrimaryFocus Not sure what you're on about or on for that matter. The Wife and I jumped down the Rabbit hole and came to the conclusion It's a little bit of both as well as some over protective people with power.;
Still like the teacher that doesn't give homework to kids. They spend 8 hrs at school and should do their work there. Not all kids have the same supportive home life that others have. Some kids have parents who work 24/7, and barely have food, or even a house over their heads.
I’m a teacher and I totally agree! There’s room for studying, reading and the occasional project, but I think nightly homework is unnecessary and for some unfair
Please tell me where I can get one of these jobs where I can do what I want to do that someone has to fix, and not do what I'm supposed to do so someone has to fix it? WTF is it that teachers do? What is the point of educational systems anymore?!
@@PrimaryFocus basically, in public schools, they have kids for 6+ hrs a day 8+ months out of the year. If a teacher is a math teacher they should teach math. If students are not learning math, they are a bad teacher. So basically, what are math teachers getting a paycheck for if parents have to teach their kids math after they have been at school half the day for over half a year?
@@NickGreydenI love that you hold such a high belief that children are capable of anything. However it’s not fair to expect them to get it first try. Let’s acknowledge it takes work to succeed in school (and at most things) and parents and teachers are a team supporting the child.
Stop using blk folks to push your agenda. The first book was about males acting as mom and dad the second awith the kid who is naked. No kids don’t need to see each other naked the 3rd about the banned books is like ok we make books about school pew pewers. That’s odd we don’t want to promote it. All the bans were good decisions. But every person being fools by Kamala’s lgb team as though she is boing to bring some change because she’s a black wmn is rediculois. These books are going back into schools and the lgbtq trans shows will continue for your 9 year old children they are about to have a huge wil and four years of focusing on bs that has nothing to do with the average. Guaranteeing homes for same ex couples. 25000 dollar loans. Indoctrination throughout the world. Ppl whose agenda do you think is being pushed here. Both this lady and this man on this video ain’t married. It’s all lies.
Just because YOU find violence disturbing does not mean books containing it should be banned these stories deserve to be told and they are usually criticism of violence
Short answer- the teacher won’t change the pull-up in elementary school Long answer- In public schools kids 5 and up teachers and staff members cannot legally change diapers, help children change clothes, or assist with health issues aside from sending them to the nurse. This is for the safety and privacy of both the student and the teacher. If a child needs to wear a diaper this is arranged through a 504 plan or IEP where a staff member or trained medical professional is designated to change the child. This is different in infant/ toddler daycares where they tend to have a trained professional for diapers. 🩷 Hope that helps!
Or, you know, be appreciative of the thought. They could have not given you anything. Furthermore, I know A LOT of teachers that LOVE school supplies as gifts and putting it in a tower or creative arrangement they appreciate because again it shows you put time and thought into it. - Another Teacher
