I love watching these type videos. Fascinating to watch and learn the right way to do the things that we take for granted. Always many steps to do things right.
I see this over and over. The use of wax paper as a release agent for epoxy. It is possible to contaminate the epoxy with wax. Just use a sheet of plastic. Epoxy will not stick to the plastic.
In this case, the paper could leave a wax residue on the epoxy surface, but I will wipe the area down with lacquer thinner before sanding and or hand planing it to a final surface. Even if I used plastic, I would follow this procedure as I waxed the stainless screw before inserting it in the epoxied area. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but I’ve never had a fisheye develop in any areas that I’ve varnished or painted after using this method. I have used plastic before but didn’t have any handy.

Hello I have a pair of marine hemi motors that came stock in my 1964 42ft hatteras. I repower the boat with a pair of Detroit motors at 1000 hours on the hemis. They have been sitting for about 30 years with cylinders filled with atf and crank case full of new oil. And carbs drained. Both motors fan flawlessly . I planned on using them someday but now don't have the time. Any idea what these are worth. They are %100 stock With consecutive serial#. And still have the maintenance logs and all the paperwork and repair books for both motors. I have had several people want to buy them but only wanted to pay for the motors without the related marine equipment and transmissions. They wanted to use them as racing motors but I feel they were made to be on the water. I would like to see them live on and get a fair price. Or just hold on to them untill they are even harder to find. But would like to see them on the water again. What do you think these are worth.
@glassgoat9601 off the top of my head no I don't know the model or serial. I can look for pictures of them. I do know they are 426 hemi marine motors which were the industrial motor. I have the motors in storage in Portland oregon we just moved to boise idaho. We got tires of the democrap bullshit We plan on going there end of June for family reunion and clean out storage. To haul them back. I may be going back sooner to show them to a guy restoring a criss craft yacht. If you want I can save this and reply back After I get back. Or maybe I can send my storage key to a friend and he can get pictures of the block numbers if your serious about it.
Great video of all the wooden boats. That Jimmy,..dude is awesome. Almost started to cry when I saw that Lyman being backhoed in pieces. If you say it's too far gone, I'm taking that assessment as bible. Thanks for bringing all your adventures to light.

Scott, nice boat shed. I'm envious! I'm going to try to build something similar in the future. I can't wait to see the progress on that hydroplane. I like how you make tasteful changes to some of your boats to make them different than the others. Unbeknownst really came out amazing. I really like how you decked it. That Iron Duke seems to move that boat quite well. Once again, great video!
