I also have long legs and a short torso for my height. No matter the body proportion it is a challenging maneuver and takes time to be able to achieve. Work the steps provided they really work to build strength and coordination.
been practicing ashtanga for 5 years now and this is by far the best led class i have seen on youtube. not as rigorous as the full primary series but still has all the essentials to make you feel empowered and strong by the end of it. soothing voice, breaths are not rushed, mantra is on point and no ads is a blessing! thank you laruga🙏🏽
Your skills are so impressive and inspirational). I've discovered yoga less than 2 months ago, at the age of 43 (I'm a male). The results are just crazy, my back and knee pain substantially dicreased, and my mood is much, much better now (suffering from depression for years). I can already see substantial progress in training, my coach says it too. I wish somebody introduced me to yoga earlier)) P.S. I also quit smoking, clean for 1.5 months, after 25+ years of that craziness.
Hearing your testimony in regards to taking up the Ashtanga practice really warms my heart. Thank you for sharing. How your life has changed is truly inspirational.
Make sure to keep a flat palm grounded on the floor at all times when attempting the jump thru. This is extremely important for the security of the wrist. Also, always widen the fingers of the hands as well to maintain a proper base which also helps to protect the wrists.
Start with the progressions and the technique. No matter the proportion of the body you should be able to make improvement over time. Even people with long arms find it challenging.
Grad mal bei RU-vid auf dass Video gestoßen .Respekt wie sich eine Frau wahrscheinlich etwas älter so bewegen kann und so fit ist. Habe Yoga für den Rücken mal bisschen geschaut .
Hi Laruga thank you so much for guiding us through the half primary series, I practise every day, only one thing, at the end of the video closing mantra same as opening mantra, is it specifically designed this way or is it just a little mistake, would be perfect if it is correctable. You are the best!
If you look at the comments below I have addressed the issue with the opening mantra being at the end of the video many times. This was an editing mistake AloMoves made it was not my own.
Hey Laura, This is beautiful and insightful video. I've been practicing Ashtanga on and off but whats stopped me is even if i do just 10 minutes of practice in the day, i always get a huge wave of several hours after practice of exhaustion that hits me. Can you relate to this or offer thoughts on this, i really love the practice and this has been a somewhat of block for me. Sending peace x
The practice can be very purifying so there it can possibly be due to that process taking place. Also, it activates the nervous system as well. However, it could also be due to not breathing properly. I would start with assessing the quality of the breath. Remember you can start with doing less in the practice and slowly build up the time. I hope this helps.
This is nagendra from Mysore...I am your big fan..your are my virtual yoga teacher...I want to meet you in my life time ..please give a chance when u come to India...❤❤
Your thoughts on coming to Ashtanga in your 40s after almost a decade hiatus from the practice? It's a physically demanding practice, and I am concerned about potential age-related risks.
I really think the Ashtanga practice is for all ages. However, how it is introduced and taught can make or break someone. I think 40s are a good time to embark on the practice. Just know you can start small and gradually build up the practice as the body adapts. The "how" one practices is what it is all about.
When you are A Queen Of Yoga, as Laruga is, her explanations and descriptions of Yoga movement are so clear and well defined that your understanding of what she is saying, makes you yern to start a yoga class straight away.
