Hi, I'm Riku :) For as long as I can remember, I have been overly enthusiastic about trains and transport in general, and on this channel, I pour out my love for it in videos featuring informative and fun journeys exploring transportation in London and beyond. In my time on RU-vid, I've interviewed many people who shape the state of trains and buses as we know them, attended station openings, stepped aboard brand-new trains, and found myself in unusual, interesting and unknown territories. I'm very grateful to every single person who has subscribed to my channel- they drive me to continue making regular videos with heartwarming comments and never-ending support. I'm also a young author of children's and teens' books, an audiobook narrator, and a co-host of a music project. My brand-new book, Music to My Ears, is available to order on Amazon in paperback and ebook: amzn.eu/d/dh3tMIz To find out more about me and what I do, check out my website at rikufryderyk.com
We moved away from London 14 years ago. Kind of jealous there's now a bus route that goes straight from Thamesmead to Bromley. The SL3 certainly would've been handy back in our day instead of having to get off at Bexleyheath and get another bus from there. And then the same coming back home to Thamesmead again.
@@rikufryderyk I actually missed him too as I went on the train back to Bristol and he came to Ashley down as I left but gutted really as I live in the south west of Devon so wanted to get back
New here and it's really cute to see you having fun with your friends (I am assuming the other people are friends) around pubkic transit. Also using cars is illegal for transit nerds (trust me). /j
What a good out of the ordinary video! You couldve went to Uganda instead lol. So much stuff there you could do. Other than that, keep up the good work!
I didnt even notice anyone was filming people getting on and off 😂 (im in the crowd getting on at 5.29). As a local it was great seeing how busy it was and how excited people were!
You must've been very excited about Ashley Down. You made 6 community posts about it, and 1 video. Since the opening you've now made 3 videos and 9 community posts. I was happy too :)
The new Ashley Down railway station serves few landmarks nearby including Memorial Stadium that is home to League One club Bristol Rovers. Nice to see the new station now officially opened.
Very glad there was no repeat of Cameron Bridge! Enjoyed your perspective of the opening. Going to the next one? 🙂 It was great seeing Choppers and a Grid too!
Nice to see the new railway station in North Bristol that would serve the local community but also would serve Bristol Rovers FC Memorial Stadium and Gloucestershire Cricket ground as both grounds are near to the new Ashley Down railway station.
I was on that first train (boarded at Lawrence Hill), on my way to work at Filton Abbey Wood. It was rather surprising to see so many people out for the first train, lol, but also awesome too. I am on your video as you get on the train :) (5:31)
