Do you have docs or a video about connecting a controller and power supply to one of these boards? I got lucky and found donkey Kong but unsure how I could play it
@@slimeprivilege i used to just use 409, but have found dawn help tremendously. Lately, i've been using LA Awesome yellow on smoke residue on boards and it works well, but is a bit harsher and you need gloves when working with it.
Another faulty chip to the Camel ash tray! 😄The tips about what we should be seeing on a functional z80 are invaluable Mike, thanks for another great video 👍 and great fireball jump on the test play haha
Thank you for sharing the method. I got to save one for a local client here in Wilkes County NC. I posted a video of the process so everyone can check out my experience. I linked this video in the description.
It was briefly. They keep changing how these CHAMMA bootleg boards work and it is almost impossible to keep up. The hardest part is getting the actual pinouts of 2 different boards to always work together. This Double JAMMA allows configuring the last button 6 as a ground or button, per slot. The more you support, the harder it is to configure.
Do you know why that certain video RAM 2114 at that certain address range would cause the display to be 0's and 1's? because there is multiple video RAM chips but that certain video RAM when it goes bad or corrupted it causes the video to be 0's and 1's
@@waynegram8907 well you have to figure out internally what "1F" leads to inside the RAM chip, specifically which memory cells correlate to that address. I could be wrong on that but I imagine that the RAM chip isn't storing a faulty "0" character inside every single cell, so it's more likely a failure in address decoding.
What’s your thought on the chip tester. Been meaning to buy one and first time seeing it being used. Thanks for videos, you’re helping the community out!!!!
Super cool! Looks to be a bootleg of Nichibutsu's Moon Cresta (which also ran on Galaxian hardware). I doubt Nintendo had anything to do with this particular game, but Fortrek did release a sequel to Nintendo's Space Firebird called Space Demon. Maybe they sold this game as another sequel?
When the Sprites are Stuck not moving or stuck in the upper park of the screen it can be either bad H&V counters, bad Video RAM chips or bad logic gates on the data buss? When a sprite is duplicated on the screen mostly its bad video RAM chips?
@@MikesArcadecom any reasons why the test ROM and test RAM chips are causing the flickering? The test ROM test code shouldn't cause the flickering problems
Pretty much eyeball em, or wiggle the chip in them. Generally the chip will be loose or you can visually see a problem. You could use a meter on each pin, but that doesn't guarantee they are good.
I have been playing with a version that does. It hadn't been fully tested yet. I got frustrated with the current wave of changing video output on the CHAMMA boards.
