I used this method for hunting ammo for my Weatherby backcountry in 270 Win. with 150 gr partitions and H4831sc. Found a real flat spot at 56.7 grains @2878. loaded up 5 rounds and shot .370. For hunting ammo, I've found that if you stick to the Nosler suggested cartridge OAL you won't go too far wrong. I've since revisited all my loads and made improvements; some big , some small, but all were improved. Magnetospeed for the win
At around 2:50 the comment is made about load development being time-consuming. Scott Satterlee's reaction is priceless. I couldn't have said it bester myself ;-)
It drives me crazy when they are calles 223 trainer rifle. Its a 223 rifle and besides you should train with what you compete with I wouldn’t train with a 375 cheytac then compete with 416 barret in ELR
How long do you wait in between shots? I can’t ever find a good answer to this if it is a 70° day, are you still waiting three minutes in between each shot or are you shooting a group at a time? Also, are you shooting a couple shotsof random ammo before Utting your proof so your barrel is already hot?
I don’t think the guys make any more videos these days. I have fire one shot every 40 or so seconds when shooting 5 shot groups. This way the barrel doesn’t get hot and it ensures good long barrel life.
I did a ladder test with my 20 inch barrel mosin. From this data, would I be correct in focusing in the 45.5-47gr area? the velocity was lower than i hoped though. Perhaps H380 would be a better choice if i wanted to match factory load velocity. PPU 150SP was 2700fps. At max charge given by hornady, it also seems very very conservative. Rl 15, hornady 150gr interlock.312, mosin M44, Murom LRP 42 2275 42.5 2266 43 2288 43.5 2302 44 2329 44.5 2337 45 2386 45.5 2450 46 2432 * 46.5 2443 47 2472
Old video I know, but wanted to say that RCBS Lube-2 is much better than Lanolin. RCBS Lube-2 is water soluble. None of the Die waxes nor One-Shot are water soluble. Lanolin also isn't water soluble and can be a pain to remove from the cases, whereas Lube-2 is not. A quick rinse and you're done. 10:1 through 15:1 ratios have worked great.
when I do load dev I'm focusing not just on the overall size of the group, I'm also tracking the spread top to bottom. Your gonna have nodes where the deviation is low ion FPS but the group spreads. "Best Data" doesn't always correlate to tightest group. Then, ya need to stretch out to 200 yards n see how they stabilize. My 6.5 Swede with 140 gr TMK's over 45 gr of 4350 would group 1/3 MOA at 100...even better at 200. They seemed to settle down better. My Bench-rest buddies told me they see that all the time.
This sheet is awesome! The only issue is im a Mac user and dont have Excel. Im trying to do it in Numbers but im not getting those reset chart buttons, all my charts are messed up and the color highlighting doesnt work. It would be AWESOME if you had this in a google sheets version!
Interesting to hear a review of this scope from someone who obviously uses nicer scopes. I have nicer also, but this should fill niche for me. Thanks. Especially at $607!
Thanks guys . I enjoy these videos. I use all three media that you've mentioned and for the precision brass, I gravitate toward wet tumbling. At first, I had a tumultuous time at it though. The stainless pins are just the right dimension to get stuck in 6.5CM in a way that is tough to extract and I got discouraged about the pins. Then I heard about the folks at Southern Shine media that sells these stainless scraps at a comparative bargain. They work great and no more tedious stainless extractions. But if I want a fast clean, I use walnut. If I want thorough cleaning, I use wet, and if I want the middle, I use cob media. Thanks again!!!!
I looked long and hard at a Howa . I think it is better than the Ruger American ranch. BUT the magazine sucks. 10 rounders not available and finding an inexpensive reliable magazine is not available. I mlm would vfc accept a standard integral box mag and follower to load from the top bit that isnt an option either. I think I will fall back to the CZ in 7.62x39.
No way I would ever pay that much for training. You don't need a coach to learn to shoot accurately. This is nothing more than a propaganda video for his group. Literally everything he says about "saving" money is just absolutely nonsense
