Once thought to be a closed chapter in Maker's Mark history, The Wood-Finishing Series is back with a second chapter in the form of "The Hearts Release". Our bottle is 112° and is finished with 20 French Oak staves - the first batch of 10 staves for 5 weeks, the second batch for nine weeks. The retail on this nation-wide released bottle is $75.

Just picked this up a few days ago and I was very pleased with it. We had cellar aged for $25 a pour on our fall trip if you remember.

While this sounds good, it seems to be a little gimmicky to me. Isn’t it basically the stave profile from Maker’s 46 they just did it twice and it spent some time in the cellar. I’ll probably pass.

I love this bottle. Have heard from some people that think its the same thing as Makers Mark 46, just has a new label and priced higher. Do you know what the difference is?

It's at minimum a higher proof. Its likely just blended differently for a different flavor.

What bugs me is Makers is charging 80 bucks but is not really aging the whiskey they are just using g staves to mimic age but charging prices as if this is 10 year old whiskey. It's the same old same old from Makers. Whst they need to do is mass release the Cellar aged they are a big enough mass producer to be able to do that by now

I think you were describing Magnum Ice Cream bar. I really enjoy this bottle. Caramel and milk chocolate. Definitely happy with purchase at $80

From meeting you both, I know you are nice, caring, and respectful folk....however, I hope when you saw the price of the pour in the bar you asked to speak to the bar manager and then laughed heartily in his face, before walking out of the bar with a flourish.

She's right, summer sucks. Here in Southern California, it has been blistering hot for about 10 straight weeks. I'm ready for cool weather. Also just picked this up at a Total Wine here and I do like it.

Why not just get 46 or 46 Cask Strength? Both cheaper. I’m a Maker’s fan, but I feel like this lacks anything to grab my attention

I enjoy Maker's Mark......but I can't and haven't kept up with all the different series, especially when they use the numbers and letters. I am a graduated Ambassador and was at Maker's for a tour and got to see some of the construction of the Celler. With all the distilleries coming out with different finishes its hard to keep up. Also I don't want to spend $75 for something I might not like.

This bottle is definitely one of my favorites of 2024 (though to be fair, i don’t try/buy too much 😅). But I’m a sucker for the bottle design, so it’s a win win for me since the juice is great too 🙌🏼

Cellar aged never really came to Nevada. I saw one in a raffle and the rest all seem to be in airport duty free shops. Lame. (I'm bitter. Lol) At least I got the heart release. It's pretty good.

I feel like we are drinking different Heart's Release bourbons. I find the nose to be lovely, but, it is REALLY tannin-ie?? Very very drying and not an enjoyable pour (for me). If it were a bottle of wine I would say it was corked. My least favorite of the Wood-Finishing series by far.

Maybe it does have cork taint. It can happen to whisky too - I had a bottle of Balcones Baby Blue which was just *awful* and later I realized it was corked.
