Craftsman at work. I want a pair. Really nice video. In 1978 I got custom fitted for a pair of Haderer boots in Kitzbuhel Austria. I still have them. Instead of sewing the sole it was pegged with wooden carved dowels. A work of art.
If you live in Canada there's no apprentice programs for shoe repair, unfortunately. You would have to get hired on by a shop owner and soak in as much as you can
Just got a pair of vintage 1980s Red Wings 710 boots at the thrift store for $1. Brown leather moc toe with near mint Vibram lug sole tread. No structural damage or loose binding but the leather parched and needing some love to resurrect them. The toes almost pointed upwards as they were used wet and put away without proper care that parched the leather. Applying about 7 installments Apple brand leather care leather conditioner have accentuated the creosote stains on the inner sides and heels adds some real soul and flavor to these boots. A REAL improvement.
Hi Pablo, what color Saphir creme surfine would you recommend to create a nice natural sole edge? I tried the cognac and tobacco cremes, but they had too much orange.
Absolutely outstanding. My father and I both wore John and Scot McHale shoes. I grew up wearing them as my aunt was John McHale’s secretary. It is sad that the brand is long gone from the London Ontario factory.
Didn't know red wing used cardboard in the midsole? Or have they been done by cobbler before? This guy didn't skimp with the Cork! Best job I have seen doing that! This was top work, well done sir!
Nicely done Pablo👍 by the way got the link of that saphir conditioner that you use……like the idea that it dries matt and not shiny. How about Red wing oil would you recommend them also or they darken the leather.
