Hello! My name is Yvonne Gebauer and I'm from Saskatchewan, Canada. I'm a wife, mother to two grown boys and grandmother to six of the most adorable grandchildren ever! I live to play and create with them and love to see their imaginations go. I love all things art/paper related and enjoy sharing what I've learned with others. I started by making greeting cards probably about 25 years ago with pressed flowers and my style, genre, likes and dislikes have taken on many different phases over those years. My current love is all things Mixed Media. Thank you for coming along a joining me in my journey. I appreciate you all very much! If you'd like to reach out and talk to me, ask me a question, etc. please feel free to email me at the address below! Yvonne
When l use just a small amount of anything from a bag, like the plaster, l dip the measuring utensil ( cup, spoon, etc.) in the bag. Using a knife, l level out the amount while still in the bag. Much less mess!
I love the idea if using a lint roller. I never thought of that one. Thanks 4 sharing even though I'm watching this video 9 years later. Hope all is well
Is adding water a no-no, cause I added some to my baby powder mix because it was to thick and chalky and it became like starch with water, you know, when ya hit it, it's hard like rock but when stirred gently it's very runny. Why did this happen when I didn't use starch, but used baby powder which is talcum I thought???
I know it is a very late comment. I have a question, I'm looking for a very thick modeling paste to create petals and flowers art. Could you please share a video about how to make it or which one to use
Gesso is calcium carbonate and non acrylic paint(tempura), which can be purchased cheaply and mixed together. It’s the acrylized stuff that makes it impermeable and non absorbent. You basically by rights could buy the cheapest water based tempura paint in bulk and add calcium carb(chalk) and get the best gesso super cheap! Adding a bit of matte medium or acrylized primer as a sealer first would make an amazing base on top of wood, Masonite, even artist canvas.
Love the way the homemade texture has soft edging. Very interesting and potentially good to know. Thanks once again. I loked forward to seeing the rest of your videos.
What I use is a paint roller with the size of an empty toilet paper roll onto which I’ve glued the different textures of choice. Obviously the toilet paper rolls are then interchangeable .
i cant believe i was here 3 years ago but here i am was looking for something else but im really glad i found this lol cause ive forgotten about this...
Thank you so much for this information and I would like to ask you if I use polyfilla can add a color for it since when it’s dry it dries white but if I add for example green do you think it will dry green?
Thank you for the recipes and ideas. Thank you for showing what happens when heat is applied to the real stuff and the homemade stuff. What is the name of the pink stuff? I didn't catch it.
This is not a good idea. Waste of MONEY for me. I have a pro mixer from a LAB and it will not get the chunks of plaster out no matter how lone I mix it. Waste of paint and time. I have to dump it in the trash. DO NOT USE PLASTER! That is my vote.
As long as the jar is air tight it shoots be okay. I’ve had it last over 6 months with no issues. Although a batch usually runs out by then anyway. lol
Wow I see the difference and I’m grateful for you sharing this video! It’s really is helpful. Plus you save from spending the real stuff already done… thank you again.💫💫💫
Thanks for your tutorial! I too make alot of my own supplies, as I use quite a but and it is more economical for me! 🙃 I have found that Ready-to-Use Joint Compound works the best by far...it gives deep texture and holds up well!! I paint with my hands for the most part and have found that if I finalize my layers by rubbing water over it I don't have issues with cracking!
Thank you for the recipes,i made lot of texture paste which didn't do well.I firs put double amounts, even more, for plaster alabaster, and then, put gesso, and then glue, and it was like, too much plaster and no way to stir,so i added white paint, and it was stil thich, and then i added more of everything in the recipe, and it turn out to be ok,but with lot of hard lumps I don't know how to not to get those lumps
To remove lumps you just have to really get in there and stir!!! Depending, you may have to stir ALLOT! If it’s thick too sour then you need to add more Gesso or Mod Podge. And stir some more.
