hello how are you very nice video thank you very much your video is really nice i like it very much i always watch your video i subscribe and like your youtube channel, I can learn a lot by watching your videos. I am a regular viewer of your RU-vid channel. You always upload videos. I like your words very much. I wish you all the best. I always follow you, I will always help you if you want, What country do you live in?
So true, no matter what you write someone will take offense at something. I wrote a nice children's novel with a Chinese character and a half-Chinese woman in my community got upset with me for referring to my character as a "Chinaman." I had no idea that was an offensive term to people of Chinese descent. I really wished she had read the book since the Chinese character was somewhat of a hero.
Great advice. I like what you said. The criticism some give that we should write only what we experience, the "own voice" narrative, feels wrong to me. If I want to write about someone from Paraguay even though I've never been there, or even met a Paraguayan, I should write it. Imagination counts for something. And yes, we should write what makes us happy and tell the stories that come to us.
Totally! Originality isn’t the end goal, authenticity and finesse *is*. Executing your stories, however cliche they are, in YOUR own style automatically distinguishes it from those around you. The cliche trope of ‘only one bed’, for example, was used in the later seasons of Bojack Horseman, a show remarked as insightful and highbrow - which you’d never associate with Oscar Nominee television lol. Keep speakin’ the truth, Poofs. Loved this video.
I'd say if an idea pops into your mind write it down. This method helps me out a lot. I also shine some light on unkown authors or stories that someone might not have read. When it comes to learning video and audio editing; you don't have to break the bank I just use audacity and a basic USB mic for my audio reviews. So, you don't always need studio grade equipment to make something amazing. Just take your time and be like water. 😉
With the exceptions of 'Needful Things' and 'On Writing', I have all of the books you've shown in the video and have read almost all of the ones shown, too. My favorite of them is 'Carrie'. Just don't mention the original movie. A day old report just confirmed that a 'The Long Walk' movie will start filming in July 2024.
I have heard rumors about 'The Long Walk' being adapted into a film. I'm interested in seeing the final version. I also heard that a new Salem's Lot movie is coming out this year. I lost track of my book and movie news, so I'll have to get back into the grove of things.
@poofreads Salem's Lot is this year, and I'm excited about it. The Long Walk has certainly peaked my interest in what they'll do to it. I guess we'll find out in time.
A very nice video, thank you very much sir, the videos are really very nice, there are 15 videos in your RU-vid channel, I am watching all of them, but I saw some problems in your RU-vid channel video, I checked out your RU-vid channel and found your content very nice and thumbnail construction perfect. But the problem is that you have not SEO your video properly due to which your video is not getting more views. If you do video SEO your video will be on the top of the search list and your audience will increase. I also noticed that your video tag is not using SEO keywords, the title-description-tag is not SEO friendly, and the channel tag is not being used correctly.
A very nice video thank you sir your video my friends can learn a lot by watching you upload 3 videos a week your youtube channel has 11 videos and 37 subscribers
@TheBookubus, thank you! The Shining has its place among the modern horror classics, but everyone seems to cite it as a top ten when there are so many other horror books out there that can easily compete (Yes, I dare said that haha).
Welcome to book tube. New to all this malarkey myself and still finding my way around. I hope you get some great reads and best wishes to your channel.

How about some tips to motivate myself to edit what I've already written? Back in the 2001-1011 decade I got involved in Nanowrimo novel writing, and I have a lot of unedited first drafts. The editing intimidated me and never got done. I quit doing Nanowrimo because I didn't need any more manuscripts to work on. I did edit the first novel six times and got critiques and it is pretty much ready to go but... there are three sequels that are written but not edited. I did self-publish one YA short novel but it wasn't one of the novels I wrote during Nanowrimo. I did not like the agent submissions process and ended up self-publishing through Amazon CreateSpace and Kindle. I still occasionally sell those books but I don't know that I ever broke even. Since making money isn't likely to ever happen with my novels what is the motivation for editing them, or writing more? I love the creativity process of writing a novel, but at this point I'm out of practice. Oh, and I like your advice to write anything to break the ice... getting started is usually the hardest part of writing, for me. These days I write blog articles and little else.
@Eldertalk, This question would make a great future video. I don't always find the concept of motivation very helpful, and being motivated by money can be a hit or miss (speaking from experience). The key is will vs. want. We want to write a book but we don't always want to do the editing. We want to publish a book, but we don't want the headache that comes along with the process. However, if we remember why we're doing this and commit to that goal until the end, then we can get past the lack of motivation. This is all about commitment. "Yeah editing is exhausting, but I'm still going to commit to doing it." Money can be a major motivation, but more often than not it seems to be a demotivator because it gets increasingly harder to sell anything these days. I'd say keep writing and perhaps take another look at your marketing strategy (another future video I'd like to discuss). Lastly, to avoid feeling overwhelmed, start by editing one chapter, scene, or chunk at a time and each time you get one edited, treat or reward yourself. For me, teaching your brain, "hey every time we get another piece edited, we get a reward, brain," leads me to start enjoying the process more knowing that there will be some type of reward for my hard work. I may not get the big fancy toy I want (yet), but if I get a smaller toy I'm still good with that until the bigger one comes along. Hope this helps. I will try to answer again in a later video. Main point: Commit, treat, and pace yourself. Don't just want the end result, will and push through.
I'm entering my first writing contest this summer. I primarily want the experience for myself and I look forward to receiving feedback from a professional on my work.
Welcome to BookTube! I am not a fan of horror but thanks to BookTube I do plan to try it because I want to broaden my horizons and at least try. I loved Frog and Toad and Amelia Bedelia when I was young! What is your favorite Stephen King? I read my first book by him last year I think. I read Fairy Tale and I enjoyed it.
Hi @BonnieNicoleWrites! I have too many favorite Stephen King novels, but I would say probably Pet Sematary. It's been a while so I'll have to go back and read these novels along with finish up the rest of King's works. Fairy Tale is still on my TBR list as well.
Welcome back, sir -- congratulations on your decision to branch out in some new directions. Making a newbie tag was definitely a good way to get into the community; people search for these. Stay active leaving comments in others' BookTube channels as well, and you can mention your channel in sort of an off-hand way as well. CriminOlly, Michael K. Vaughan, Plagued by Visions, and Mystery and Mayhem might be some good channels to make friends in; those are ones I know whose interests may overlap with yours. Liking and commenting in those channels will result in them doing the same, and they might just plug your channel in return.
Welcome back to BookTube. Dream bigger, start with a small notebook. lol. Did you participate in Horror Mayhem? A horror readathon. Glad to see you back on your feet. (I hope you are....). I recently read and reviewed Stephen King's Creepshow. I also watched the film. Loved both. Drawings are by Bernie Wrightson if I remember correctly. But that's the only King I read so far. I do have another one of his books (forgot the title) but it also has illustrations in it made by Wrightson (it's not a comic though). But that one is really of an intimidating size.
Thank you @ObscureBookAdventures! I'm ashamed to say I never heard of Horror Mayhem until now, so I am most definitely interested. I haven't read Creepshow yet but that's on my TBR list. My goal is to read all of Stephen King's novels, but at the rate he puts out books, by the time I reach book 50, he will have 20 more books out haha!
Hey welcome to BookTube! I'm an avid horror and Stephen King reader as well. However, I'm open to other genres as well. Just take your time with your booktube journey and i wish you the best. 🙂❤📚
Thank you! I still need to get to that book. I’m working on reading all of King’s novels one day but at the rate that he writes, I’ll be at book 50 of 70 and he’ll have 20 more added lol
Hi there! I'm looking forward to hearing about all bookish things you want to share with us. From an oldie content creator to a newbie, welcome aboard. We're so glad to have you here!
