Welcome to my side of the mountain. I love to crochet, sew and craft. You will find free crochet patterns, stitch tutorials, and sewing tutorials.
I am inspired by everything! Designing whimsical yet functional items for the home is so much fun. Garment design is a favorite as well. Incorporating mixed media into my crochet designs is an easy way to embellish or add functionality to your crocheted items.
Let me show you how to sew easy and functional garments in a quick minute.
I am currently fighting Breast Cancer. Designing beautiful chemo headgear to donate to my local cancer center, is one of my obsessions as of late.
I hope you will sit a spell and let me teach you how to crochet, sew and craft on my side of the mountain. God Bless, Kris
I got some bulky yarn at a thrift store and searched a long time for a pattern I could make with it. I managed to make this poncho but had to leave the last two rounds as I ran out of yarn , but its nice and stretchy so it reaches my wrists just fine. Had a couple of times i had to undo a couple of rows and redo but I got the hang of it by the end. I really love the result with the lacy effect. Thankyou for this video I would never have been able to follow the written pattern!
I love your bunny floating towel topper. So easy to do and you explain each step so slow and clear. My first watching your videos. You are awesome Krissy thank you so much 😀🦋😄👍😊 33:49
I'm a new subscriber, and I'm so glad i stumbled upon your channel when i was searching for beanie/hat patterns. I've never heard of the high stitch before, so this was really interesting. Thank you. I look forward to watching your other videos. Much love from New Zealand.
I have searched high and low for a beautiful chemo cap that I could successfully create every time and your beautiful pattern is the answer. I am just thrilled with how beautifully it turns out and wanted to thank you. I am creating and donating caps in memory of my sister and my mother who both lost their cancer battles. Thank you so much!
Thank you! You have made me so happy and are a encouragement to me to keep doing what I am doing...I appreciate hearing this so much! I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs!
This is very nice 👍 another way you can fill it is put the shredded pieces in a cut up stocking, sew the ends closed, and wrap polyfil around it, or don't shred the candle and cut it into a slice and wrap a piece of polyfill around it to make less mess 🤓 thank you for your time and artistry
I was born in the 1960's and as a child I remember my mom cutting up "Lifebouy" soap. It had a very strong smell. She would put them in our clothing drawers...just throw a chunk of soap in there. The smell lasted for years!
Here is a blog post about my chicken sweaters with links to purchase the ad free pdfs. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2023/02/crochet-chicken-sweater/

Hello! I have subscribed to your channel, you have many patterns I'm going to use to make gifts mostly for my mum but I couldn't find the video for these placemats with utensil pockets, do you have it available somewhere? Thank you!❤❤
Thank you for subscribing...I have the free crochet pattern on my blog. Is this what you are needing? This is an older video, it looks like I need to update the description soon to get all of the pertinent links in there. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2021/05/nautical-placemat-free-crochet-pattern/ Also here is a video on how to add that fabric to the placemats. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-by52osZyyL4.html
I'm gonna make a pattern using the grey mandala ombre it's also the color they used. I have to purchase the pattern off raverly and they probably say the color that they used for accent color here and there I'm not sure , but it looks like the super saver yarn cream color on your wall. What exact color is it. Ty Also I'm making the flower shawl first time. I used the colorful ombre yarn and I'm only half way done and it's heavy already. Ugh I guess it will b ok.
Ombre can get heavy, that's for sure...I would love to see your flower shawl. It sounds lovely! I have a fb group that you can share your photos. I would love to see your makes! Ask to join and answer the questions. I hope to see you there. facebook.com/groups/krissysoverthemountaincrochetandcrafts
I did row 11 once and row 12 to 15, which gave me 5 rows. I am confused about row 16. Isn’t it the same as the other rows. I don’t see an extra row on your hat. I only see 5 rows.
Rows 12-15 is 4 rows. If you look at the pink hat on the right, the band is 4 rows. Here is a link ot the written patten that explains row 16. Let me know if this is a help to you. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2022/05/how-to-decorate-the-mesh-chemo-bucket-hat/
Thank you. I made several of your patterns for my friend. Probably 13/14 hats of different colors. She liked them because they were so comfortable. Sadly she passed on Easter. I am now making the hats now to donate. Thank you
Thanks for subbing! I agree...it really is. I tried a chemo cap in truboo as well, and it was like trying to contain water and it split too. I love coboo for the softness to the skin...if acrylic weren't so harsh to a chemo patient skin, I would use that all day long. Take care, and thank you so much for subbing, Kris
Ok, I have a few things I would like to say to people watching the video. First, this is not a learn to crochet basics tutorial, its to learn this specific poncho so there are a couple of things you can do, 1. Ask a question about the specific part you're having trouble with and most likely someone in the community will try to help. Or 2. Save this video and find other simpler things to crochet, the more you do it the more understanding you will gain, I promise! I still have things on my list I'm not ready for but lets not blame the people who are kind enough to teach us, For Free! Now the main reason I'm here is to say thank you so much!!!!!!❤ This turned out beautifully and your tutorial was perfect! Keep up the great work and again thank you!
Thank you for your clear instructions. I am a beginner crocheter. I have finished the Peekaboo Ridge hat, but I have some dumb questions. In the video, your measurement was not what you wanted, and you added a line which added stiches (96). But the rest of the video kept saying 88 - I finally figured out it should be the 96 all the way. 1. Was that right? I was having trouble keeping the 96 stitches so mine ended up being 98. 2. The join stich for the peekaboo rows I had issues with making it look right. Would you show a photo of the join lines so I can see if I did it right? 3. How did you end the project? I am assuming a slip stitch and then sew in the ends. 4. As I am crocheting and looking at the project is that the outside or the inside of the finished product? 5. When you measure to find out how you're doing in the beginning of the project and the piece you crocheted has more inches than the pattern shows - then how do you correct that?
Those are good questions...the photos I refer to are in the Facebook conversation that I sent in reply. I am posting the answers here as well as others may have the same questions. 1.Answer...if you ended up with 98, then that is totally fine. It's an even number and works with the peekaboo stitch. 2. There really isn't a significant line to notice. Here is a tutorial on how to execute the peekaboo ridge. Not sure if this will help or not.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ssdbH2OWdY.html Here are two photos that show the join line of the sc rounds and the peekaboo stitch rounds. There really isn't a noticeable line, since the last stich goes into the first stitch of the round, at the last round of the stitch. Notice the circled sc rounds and the circled peekaboo stitch rounds. 3. yes...join w/slp st and weave in ends. Here is the written pattern that is free on my website and if you would like an ad free pdf the links to purchase it are there as well. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2022/10/peekaboo-ridge-crochet-chemo-cap/ 4. you are looking at the outside of the project, this is what it should look like. 5. Go down a couple of hook sizes. Thank you so much for your questions. I hope you found these helpful. I used screenshots to make photos, as I am on holiday. I hope they were helpful. I may be unreachable until I return Thursday May 16th, I hope you enjoy making chemo caps for those in need. It has been a blessing to me to create beautiful chemo caps for those in need. God Bless, Kris
Thanks so much 😊 you can add it to the Ravelry project page for this design, or you can share a photo in my crafting and crochet group on Facebook. That would be wonderful. here's a link to the group. You have to ask to join and answer the questions...then your membership will be approved. facebook.com/groups/krissysoverthemountaincrochetandcrafts
The free crochet pattern is on my blog. Here is a link. Use the Child size pattern. The numbers will be different, but you should be able to correlate the two to come out with a chemo cap for a 5 year old. I am sorry she is going through that. Shooting up a prayer for her. wp.me/p9RXlD-1F9
I just had to come back and say this beauty is a real knockout! ... and then I realized that I must have been so stunned and speechless that I didn't make a comment the first time.
You are a very good instructor. I appreciate your instruction though this pattern. I am being worked up for multiple myeloma but these caps will be donated to my local oncology. Thank you so much❤
I am a complete novice to crochet and our knit, natter and crochet group has been requested to make some chemo hats. Your tutorial has been so easy to follow I am thrilled to say after only 2 half days I have completed my first hat. I am so thrilled, thank you so much. I will be recommending this tutorial to my group 🙂
Oh my goodness! You have made me soooo happy! I have other chemo cap tutorials, here is a playlist. I hope these videos will help you and your group. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BDtkmNAnuFY.html If you have folks in your group that prefer a written tutotrial here is a link to my website that has the free written crochet patterns. This link should take you to all of the chemo caps on my website. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/category/chemo-caps/
I am in West Virginia not sure that meeting would be possible? Do you mean design a cancer awarenes dishcloth, and then make the video tutorial? If that is your question, I tried to do that awhile back and it turned out weird...I might give it a go at a later date.
I just love the texture change in this pattern! I taught my granddaughters (age's 7-15) to crochet over the last year and half. We've made many fun projects. Now it's time to use their new talent to help our community. We're working on hats to donate to our local Cancer center and hospital. Your video will be easy for them to understand and complete without needing guidance from me. Thank you.
Oh what a blessing it is to hear this! Thank you! How beautiful that you are teaching your daughters to give of themselves. This is a treasure they can draw from the rest of their lives. God Bless You, Krissy
Hi there Nancy! Sorry for the late response, I was on holiday. You can access the free crochet pattern for the complete towel at the link below. krissysoverthemountaincrochet.com/2023/10/cancer-ribbon-towel-free-crochet-pattern-with-a-buttoned-topper/ Or....you can purchase a ready made towel that has breast cancer ribbons on it at Dollar Tree. After that I would use the Simple Towel topper. Here's the video tutorial. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pjjSvnExNsU.html
Thank you for being so gracious! Most say they want to know what we think, and if you do, they or the followers bite your head off or get mad & leave nasty comments to you! Why ask if they didn’t really want to know lol! I’m so grateful that you were ok with my comments & sorry for the typos! Your tutorials are great for someone just learning to crochet as well! I really appreciated those that taught well on RU-vid when I started learning to crochet Dec 29, 2014! Especially as a shut in, it meant the world to me! And if I was just starting out, and found your channel, I would’ve learned crochet cute things & techniques from you as well!! Thank you for sharing your talent & patterns with us! God bless
This hat is so adorable, I would love to have this for my baby great niece. She had a very very rough start in life. After her mother had many issues carrying, shse was born and is just the most beautiful baby ever!
Awwww...I'm so glad baby is ok. My daughter had a baby boy at 30 weeks, it is so hard when we see our little ones struggle. Her little one is doing so well now.
@Krissy here my opinion you asked for. First cute hat❤️❤️ Ok, love that you’re showing up close crochet, however it’s a tad too close! Up close for beginning & ending is great or to show new stitch being used, but by doing all the crocheting up close, the vid goes out of focus/blurry a couple times and off camera shot a couple times too. No rambling is found at all and you’re speaking clearly so as to now understood. I know it was a long video, but a little more attention needed to the sewing on / attaching things. Imho you seem to rush those, unfortunately that’s where I can mess up a pattern so badly when attaching it sewing or embroidering & weaving ends in like on c2c items. It’s heartbreaking when I mess it up because I really weave in etc, that I can’t undo lol without cutting the yarn apart. Thank you for a cute pattern & video!! It is much appreciated and thank you for no music❣️God bless
