I feel like religion is there so that in a midst of despair you can clinch on a sliver of hope that you believe making you move forward not giving up and set rules of morality, you can't get rid of religion because of the first part if there is despair that people cant solve they will inveatibly believe on something that can save them from that despair even if they cant be save they will still believe on something hoping they can be save even if they had been abandoned because eventually they will be remove from that despair even if it took generation upon generation of perseverance until the last people succeed or fail and also if people are desperate enough they will do anything to be save from the despair
