I enjoyed the video. I feel the need to advise you that putting "black" in front isn't necessary. If you are Seminole then you are simply Seminole. In Indigenous tradition, you are simply a member of the tribe or not. Identifying outside the tribe is not a part of the culture. I am also Seminole who happens to have some African DNA.
Ooooo yes. I'm from the Gullah Geechie Country of South Carolina. Many of my ancestors fleed slavery & went to Florida ( a Spanish colony at that time) and ended up in St Agustine & joining the Muscogee speaking Siminoles. Awesome research and knowledge sharing my brother. ❤

Dynamic video, and more information regarding these folks than you can find anywhere. Not many folk (Black or White) know much about John Horse and Wildcat. I read a book about the trek from Fla to Oka to Mex many years ago I was 16, I am 76 now. I retired from Higher Ed where I taught Soc. Science. I incorporated what I had learned over the years about the Black-Seminole into my class, it was never part of any curriculums, per say. I suspect you know many left Mexico and came back to Texas. The famed "Negro Seminole Scots" were part of this group. I do not watch many videos like this, but right away I was captivated with your journey...it is the best I have seen and provided information that many have never heard. I would hope that some organization or group would help provide resources to make it easier for this location to be accessed...there is much history there. So bottom line is it is the mix of the mix is causing no progress. There are different tribes! This is how Black Americans have to understand Mexicans. It resembles Babylon.
Glad to have watched this journey with you! I was only aware of our people down by the Guatemala border on the Pacific coast side. I felt the warmth of those El Nacimiento folks. It reminded me of a little coastal town in the Yucatan called Progreso. You did the right thing not renting a car and driving solo in a cartel zone...you never know what goes down. Seems like you could've flown to San Antonio and caught some kind of bus to Eagle Pass border crossing and got there faster than the Monterrey route. Something that most of us Americans don't know much about: finding a trafficker over there is like calling a cab. That business is nationwide and busy as hell!

Black people ( not all) are the only race to claim other races or Mixed race peoples as Black which is such self hate and they dont even realize that they are ashamed of their Sub Saharan African ancestry. When these people come to America or English speaking countries they will not like you and discriminate against you. Please go to California or any other predominantly Mexican area and tell them that they are Black and they should be proud brothers and sistas and you will get a wake up call. Lol.

Black American are the most confused Black people in the West; they call anyone Black with a little Black blood. Not because you have some Black ancestry makes a person Black especially when their phenotype says otherwise, same as a Black person who has a little European or Asian ancestry and they share no discernable phenotype of their admixture.
