I shoot at a lot of shoots in different states and have been shooting a bow for 45 years and have been shooting trad for 25 years. In my experience, most people do not have a 28 - to 29-inch drawl it is less it could be more for a lot, but their form is not right. Most people coming from compounds are going to drawl from 1 to 2 inches of drawl length less. Most shooters that say they have a long drawl if you watch them shoot and ask how long is there arrow they have inches more arrow sticking out the front of the bow then they schould because they do not drawl as far as they think. A friend of mine 6'3" he was shooting too much weight, (55lbs) was only drawling 26 or so inches less than I am at 5'7" because of form. He now shoots 45lbs is using better form, not perfect but better and hitting around 28" now. Both bows shoot the same speed, less weight, longer drawl = more weight shorter dawl. Also most people are not shooting 3under it is a good mix between the two I shoot split myself. Darren
Hey , as a big guy im 6.3 with a dl of 30 would you recomend a handle of 21" and long limbs? in my Country Bowhunting is not allowed so i will shoot more 3d in Openfield/forest and sone target shootig.
Obviously a deer farm, food plot fed deer, and you sitting in a roomy blind out of the weather, taking your pick of which deer to shoot. Not really a hunt, when compared with stillhunting wild deer on public land. Might just as well have shot a cow in the barnyard. Only redeeming factor is you shot him with a hand held bow, albeit you hit him too far back, even for a quartering away shot. Nevertheless, the mule kick was a sure sign of a fatal hit, and at "long" range.
Just got a Satori three weeks ago. At 74 I have shot all kinds of bows. This Satori is the most consistent bow I have ever shot. I have the 17 inch with medium 40 and 35 pound limbs. Set it up with the forty maxed out at 44 lbs. shooting easton legacy with fifty grain inserts and old school Zwickey’s for a total weight of 475 grains. Like I said it’s the best recurve that I’ve ever shot.
Traditional archery has boosted my love of archery all over. I've learned a ton and had fun playing around with different setups. Set your stands lower, always carry a field tip to shoot one practice shot before getting out of the stand. My field tip arrow also has a painted line on it marking brace height so I can continually check it. Trad bows just don't shoot the same if brace height is off.
That buck shaking the snow off his body in slow motiom was so damn cool! Great footage and editing! New subscriber as of today! Great shot too man gratz!
Jared, wondering, if you could share the name of the electric vehicle you use, in this video. I need to find something, so I can hunt, this season. Any help, from you, or anyone else, reading this, would be appreciated.
New subsciber, I have watched a few of your videos and really enjoy them and your style of hunting, filming. I am getting ready for the season, and have some nice bucks to hunt. Unfortunately they are not using areas with trees to hang stands from. Basically bedding in corn and feeding on beans. I am getting set up for a 120 yard muzzleloader shot, using terrain to hide in the beans. Anyway, best of luck in the coming season, looking forward to your content. From Manitoba. Allan.
Two questions for you Jared Foliar fertilizers-what are you using? Have you tried Diesel Exhaust Fluid DEF for any plot fertilizing? It’s basically Urea as per the label, it would seem to be a very inexpensive way to get nitrogen on the ground but I have no idea on how to calculate a per acre application rate? I did use it with a homemade sprayer added to the front of each planter unit, my corn planter, my corn does look fantastic this year but it’s also been a banner weather growing year. Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated thanks
❤😊 What an experience seeing those bucks run that doe. You a man after mine own heart. I love it when strategy comes together and works. Great advice. What kind of lock-ons do you like? Love your videos. Would love to come to Iowa and hunt one time. Have hunted Illinois for 22 years and have seen some Brusiers. Love that footage.
❤😊 Love this hunt. I have a location that looks just like this in Illinois that produced me several nice Bucks. Hey man , what a Brusier. What kind of Broadheads do you like best or use if you don't mind me asking? Love your videos ❤
Hey Jared,Love your hunts and videos and the way you hunt. I have hunted Illinois for 21 years. Looking to self film this year. Which GoPro do you use if you don't mind me asking.?
Do you remember fred trost he was sued for proving that human urine worked better than synthetic buck scrape scents try pissing in a scrape it drives bucks crazy especially if your. Girlfriend fires the srape with piss
Bought this recently. Love the design of the arm but I feel like a dumbass trying to figure out to attach the strap to this buckle and make it work in a sinching fashion. Anyone have any useful tips?
I would like to know if the Satori limbs will get the same technology in the limb shape and profile of the Axia and Integra limbs. Those thin limb profiles of the Axia and Integra really make a big difference.
Congrats man. I got my biggest buck almost at end of a white out at around 11:00-12am ….scored 158. Was rattling pretty much just to keep the snow off me and seen the giant come walking over from the right side. Got 5 monster buck from this one spot. Hunters don’t know what they’re missing during the break between morning and evening hunts….but it is hard to stay in their all day. I hunt mostly off the ground in archery so it gets uncomfortable although i switch up my positions but the longer you hunt you’ll notice yourself switching positions at a faster rate as more time goes by. Tree stand hunting gets uncomfortable also….need a stand where you can adjust to tilt the back towards the tree and kick up your feet almost (but not) in a laying position. Im trying to invent a cool gel seat during summer hunts and a heated gel seat during winter. You won’t believe the tree stands coming in the future, nobody has the concepts yet but they will soon. They’ll come with cell phone chargers, cameras and camera charging, they’ll be heated during winter in the back rest, the seat, and foot platform. And a lot more.
Kudos on a great vid. It's makes it so much more fun to watch when we get to see more of the deer than the deer hunter. Good intro, good wrap up. The rest was all snow and deer. Well done.
Satori 21” riser with long limbs makes a 66” bow. I’m 31.5” dl and it’s actually one of the better bows a long armed cat can get without getting a custom bow with the poundage made to your dl. Most of the time with a lot of trad stuff it’s a crap shoot with what poundage you’re gonna end up with when you start getting over 30”. The next big issue is getting arrows long enough. There’s a few out tho. Reach out to Jared if you have any questions etc. I’ll be glad to help.
@@bigmike8443 thanks for the info. I have a 31-31.5 DL and was wondering if the 21” riser with long limbs would be smooth. So hard to find any intel on bow setups for anyone with a 31+ DL
I've never witnessed luck of that amount! 🤣 love it for you though brother! That was so awesome. Niice buck and awesome moment captured! Thanks for sharing that with us!
@jaredmills oh me too brother. Me too! The first buck I harvest was a 10 pointer running through a creek at the end of first rut, here in Kentucky. I got him though 🤣🤣
Man I just stumbled on this, perfect timing. I was looking at crossbows for the last 2 weeks, and I decided to try a recurve instead. Still doing my homework, don't know much about them.
Awesome! I do think the Satori is the best option for someone just getting into it, mainly for the tuning and customization abilities. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out and I can try to help. Best of luck, I think you'll love the experience of shooting a recurve.
What size limbs do you have. Do you find it catching brush and stuff while hunting on the ground or hunting outta a stand? I been really eyeing up ordering one the pass few weeks so prefect timing on the video. I'm a whitetail guy. I was lookin at the 17" riser with short limbs but after reading forum yesterday I'm thinking the 19" riser and short or medium limbs might be better
Hey Dylan, that's awesome. Good timing. I went with the 19 and Medium limbs. Obviously it's not going to work in some of the same tight spots that a compound would, but I never really found it to be too much of an issue. I just know what I have and if I need to trim and extra tree limb or two so I don't bump it, that's what I do. I think that 19/Medium combo is a good one to start with. The only other combination I'd consider would be the 17 with Long limbs. That will still give you the same length bow, but potentially a slightly better feel with those long limbs. Reach out if you have any other questions as you get into it and best of luck!
@jaredmills I see. Alright. Seems like everyone I talked to has said to go with like what you have. I was og looking at the 17" with short limbs but now more leaning with what you got or 19" riser with medium limbs
Boy Jared, when he was explaining the limb bolts to you that you can drop weight I really peaked your interest really good having Douglas on he knows what he’s talking about
My First recurve deer was 1967 at age 14. Howatt 62" 45lb. Funny how yardage was never a thought back then unlike today where hunters will not venture out without a range finder. Compounds were not legal here in PA until 1974. rangefiners came along much later and were about as accurate as guess in a windstorm. That first deers antlers won't even stir a kettle of soup but traditional archery pulls one into a whole slower more fulfilling experience. If I ever harvested a PY buck with a recurve they would have to call the undertaker. Be well and will look for the footage of your PY.
Love it! That's cool. I would agree, although I have only killed turkeys so far with it, just shooting a recurve in general feels more fulfilling. Thanks for sharing!
