I suspect we may soon see the "cheap energy age" collapse starting in the same parts of the world, though perhaps a little further West and North. The nature of the human attackay ne more evonomic and coming this time from the East rather than the West. Bust the effects may bevvery similar to start with.

So climate change caused the bronze age collapse? Long before the industrial revelution? Hmmmm... Don't let the liberals hear you saying that.

HC never fails to amaze at how he makes ostensibly good videos on interesting subjects hard to watch by way of over-editorializing and memery. I would trade every single attempted "funny moment" in his entire library for an explanation of Hardenberg's position on the question of German Empire. Similarly, I would have preferred more detail on the circumstances surrounding Castlereagh's suicide than being told that Canning was "cool".

If things were so bad in the Superstars of the Bronze Age countries, why did the Sea People find them so attractive and continue to attack them? A question that should have been answered, I feel.

Sounds like the Sea People are waves of illegal aliens displaced and forced into other areas. They then destroy the new host village and the cycle continues and grows. Like the locusts of today destroying the US and Europe.

... and not an SUV in sight. Climate has been changing on this planet for five billion years and will continue to do so with or without our attempts to control it. So the call of the moment is not to bankrupt ourselves with delusions of carbon sequestration but rather to become more flexible and resilient in the face of the inevitable. This means that individual citizens must become more knowledgeable, and more self sufficient, not less.

Actually, they were the world's oldest republic. The people were represented in a very orderly way by their clan mothers and sachems. There was no democracy here. Consensus is not democracy. Consensus recognizes the opinion of the minority to the extent that good feeling must prevail before action can proceed. The process favored non-action over action if such action would be divisive. I had dinner one evening in Manhattan forty years ago with a Mohawk elder. At the start, I did not know where he came from. When subject came up, he informed me that I if did not care to know his nation, I could not possibly get to know him. When the term "Native American" came up, he stopped me with a question. "When did your first European ancestor set foot on this continent?" I responded "1663." "So after thirteen generations, when are you going to get around to taking responsibility for the land you walk on?"

I love these videos, but "he consistently argued he was on the right side of the law." He was on the right side of the law, the conservatives weren't playing fair so he started doing the same. As the conservative faction was not abiding by the rule of law and proper procedures. His actions were justified as it was a corrupt government propped up by bribes, mob violence and threats. You cannot expect him to abide by the rule of law when everyone else is flat out violating it. As they did everything they could to punish him from becoming to popular and respected among the people. As a historian who posts this kind of content, you should full well know this is what they were doing as its written plain as day since they didn't even bother trying to hide any of it.

More attention should be paid to the destruction of the Minoan civilization by the mega eruption of Thera. First, if the Minoans were almost solely responsible for the shipment of cargo across the Mediterranean, their abrupt removal from the board would have had dire consequences for most of the region's economies. Second, the tsunami generated by the explosion of Thera probably wiped many other culture's coastal towns and cities completely off the map. Also, the effects of this cataclysm on regional climate was probably catastrophic as well, depending on where the ash fell, crops were probably ruined for years. The destruction of the Minoan culture may have been the Jingo block which started the collapse of the Bronze Age

It's funny how you don't even know about something called SLAVERY, oh wait... maybe it wasn't abolished after all because it didn't even exist! In the end, slaves and feudal times workers had all these incredible benefits that those oh so damned evil capitalists took away from humanity, "how dare they!" It's funny how you don't know either how to use the word "fascist", and just spit it out like it was nothing... last time I see some ridiculous video from this channel, thanks for wasting my time

I find it sad that so many "patriotic conservatives" have no problem believing a couple of volcano eruptions can disrupt global weather patterns but centuries of humans burning fossil fuels, that caused huge, very measurable changes...does not.
