Although this is "old", I hope someone can guide me to a schematic or at least tell me the value of RL105. Both mine are burnt beyond recognition and the image is not clear in any video I have seen. Thank you
During the 70s we lived in a remote area in the northern east of NZ. We had a big Jim. During a renovation project my mum fell from hight seriously hurting herself. We rang 111 emergency services but because we were so far out Ambulance couldn't find our new road. I was 10 years old & grabbed our Big Jim & activated the red light allowing the paramedics to find us.
Hello, I was looking for your follow-up video of how you fixed your sonic duo..? With mine, the plates aren’t moving back and forth and I was hoping for a visual in terms of how to remove the plates and lubricate the bearings, as you touched on here, but didn’t get to… thanks anyone for suggestions where to look…
Hi David, Thanks for your great videos. I love these torches! You mentioned that the battery case was part of the torch. Are you saying that the Big Jim battery was inside that, or is the case actually part of the battery. If I could get an old battery or case, whichever it is, I would put some rechargeable lithium cells with a voltage regulator and charger inside it, so that I could use it routinely. Lew.
My car came factory with those fitted. The T10 LED globes from Jaycar and i fitted 3mm white LEDs in the dash switches myself. The smaller reed type lights are very hard to find these days as my car is 34 years old. So some are off the shelf and some are custom fitted using a 1.2k ohm resistor for 12v use.
Is there anyway I could contact you on messenger for photo? As I’m currently doing the same thing as you and I don’t really know the names of the bulbs/lights thanks.
I have a 2003 N16 Pulsar, not sure if it's different to the 2001 N16, but do you know if these have coolant jackets that run through the intake manifold ?
If the car has either the Nissan QG16DE or the QG18DE engine, you can just loop the coolant hose for the throttle body only. The later engine has a aluminium rocker cover where the early engines have a black plastic cover. The later engine has issues with blown headgaskets and stretched timing chains. My 2001 N16 has 1.6L QG16de engine with 440,000 km and still running great. Only done a water pump and sparkplug igniters as it's coil on plug design.
I had the same problem with my Sonic Duo Scrubbing machine so I turned it up side down and sprayed WD-40 right underneath the grey plate the mop pads attached to and it got it loose and going again. Good luck! Kind regards Jo
We We, LOL. I like the radio, and thanks for the Videogate. I joined your channel, and left the first like on this video. Stop in sometime, 21 in South Carolina, Old Radio Night
Helpful, though I wish you'd shown us how you got the top off, and disconnecting the top terminals. I'm a collector too, and have 3 lights that use this same battery, and am just waiting for one to show it's dying to begin gutting one. Two of those lights I've upgraded with LED bulbs giving 300 lumens or better. I've found the at least the Rayovac model 304 lanterns show far more utility once upgraded than that modern LED lights. I beginning to check into using the 18650 Lithium rechargeable batteries in battery holders for the innards, but the square 6V Alkaline lantern batteries are a possibility too. I rejected using the SLA batteries because of self discharge rates; I want these lights available in emergencies, and SLAs will totally discharge in a year - too short a time. Now in 2021, all batteries of this type have been discontinued, though if you dig hard you might find a Rayovac 918C or two. Duracell discontinued their Alkaline version some years back; you won't find those.
Hi again I am using my last druacell it says 2007 but it may die out soon but I think they are longer than d cell but standard d cells should fit inside your red battery also the varta battery is 29 dollars to buy in Australia I don't know if they still make duracell for this torch
I think my issue is more the motor. It stops and starts. I think it needs a clean, but unsure how to open it up. I can only open the underneath part as per the video.
Thank you for this video. I was able to get my Shark Sonic Duo working because of it. Putting it back together took some patience, but being able to get it fixed was great!
Hate to break it to you but those are no.60 (f cells) you can still get those cells from the 6v spring top batteries. Not dont get the recharge ones as those are like car batteries.
so what's the latest? i'm sure you know the correct batteries are available. there are a lot of yt videos showing pakistani or bangladeshis rebuilding lead acid batteries. they separate tops (as you have done) then rejoin them with rebuilt lead plates. they will show you how to re-attach the top to the bottom if you wanted to re-use that old housing with something more modern inside it.
i always wanted a big jim. but only rich people could afford them. i recently found one on "christmas day" (thats my new name for junk day because its better than chrissy. you dont get given underpants or socks. and if you dont want it you leave the "present" where you found it.). anyway, i brought it home and considered getting a battery for it then thought again because my cheap chinese adjustable focus torches that i've modified to accept liion batteries are far better and fit in the car glovebox. i'd be setting yours up to take liion batteries.
at 3:48, did you know you can probably still get that harness connector (and others) from auto electricians? the trick is to ask for vl commodore parts. i'm in perth too. coventrys might have them too. i'm watching this because i've been having ridiculous problems getting the best car i've ever owned running again and i've pinned down the latest problem to a non-functioning fuel pump. when you were taking the tank out to drain it did you spot the drain plug? my 86 wagon has one.
Hey! Have you taken this apart at all? I need to get top portion apart but having a harder time than I expected. Got I think all the screws out, gotta be missing something.
Carbon Zinc battery components are not carcinogenic. Some municipalities allow direct disposal in household trash, rubbish. Check with ur city or county. Great video.
hey many thanks for this! however I'm a bit confused, your description says it's a vvt engine? I had the impression that egr is not necessary with a vvt engine, or maybe I'm wrong
Yes the QG16DE and QG18DE are both VVT engines. EGR valves just help the engine run cleaner by reburning exhaust gases. I did a lot of research on these engines with the idea of getting more power from them and found that the engine has VVT and works off oil pressure and engine speeds. A engine that has no modifications has a very flat power curve. If you get rid of all the restrictions IE: Air filter, and open up the exhaust you can feel the engine switch over at 3,500rpm and it really starts to sing at 4,000 all the way up to 6,500rpm and hit the rev limiter very easy. I don't have any mufflers just the cat and 1 3/4 inch pipe from cat-back. Nice exhaust note too.
