This video shows the 2001 N16 Nissan Pulsar NATS system and how it works and where to find it.
"Warning"
Do not mess around with your car unless you know what you are doing. You could mess the whole N.A.T.S (Nissan Antitheft System) making your car undrivable.
Also utmost care must be taken when doing any work on the electrical system on your car as a airbag deployment in your face can kill you. If you have never worked on a car with S.R.S. you should really take it to someone who knows how to work on them.
This video is for educational purposes only.

Or you could have simply gone to a locksmith and get a key cut to code and you’d have the same key as the door

Bit of an off topic question, do you use the standard 91 fuel, or do you run 95 -98 in it?

By the way, can you please show me where the egr valve is located in the Nissan N16 Pulsar? I want to learn how to clean it. If you could do a video on that, I would really appreciate that as well. Thank you.

The EGR valve is mounted at the left side of the engine just above the thermostat. You will see a steel pipe that comes from the exhaust manifold crosses over the top radiator hose and has a flange type nut bolting it to the EGR valve right next to the battery fuse box. These EGR valves just help burn off unburnt hydrocarbons, not burnt in the cylinders. They do not effect the engines performance in anyway. If you like I can post up a video showing its location on a Australian released N16 QG16DE and QG18ADE engine.

The remote on my car has never worked. From my understanding the remote fob sets a car alarm, unlocked doors, opens trunk etc. I would say if your remote is not working it could be the battery inside the remote is flat. Try replacing the battery its a CR-2032 battery. If that does not work then the remote is dead. To get a replacement fob remote it will need to be coded to the N.A.T.S with it coded to the engine computer. These car are OBD version 1 and are very simple. The ignition key and barrel are mechanical and can easily changed out. Lets say you broke off your ignition key in the steering lock and can't turn it to start the car. There are a number of options, Take the car to the dealer and have them fix it. A new key costs $200 then you will have extra costs to remove the broken key out of the barrel so add say 200 on top. Then if the remote fob is not working i'm guessing that's going to be $300 for a replacement. Next is take the car to a lock smith and have him remove the broken key maybe cost you $100 but you will still need a ignition key. You can take out say the boot/trunk lock and have a key cut for it at the lock smith say $40 for a cut key. If you decide to use this key you will need the blue chip out of your broken key and hot glue it near the ignition lock. Or you can do what i did. I bought a 2nd hand steering column from a wreck with the key for it for $70 Remove the steering lock assembly from the 2nd hand one. Pull apart your own car to get to the NATS remove the 10mm bolt and put it aside. Next remove your own broken steering lock unplugging all the plugs make sure the battery is not connected as you don't want the airbag to blow in your face. Also you don't want a NATS fault. There are 2 torque snap bolts holding the lock onto the steering column then swap over locks making sure you use the cars NATS box, Bolt everything back together and connect battery again. The important part is to remove the small blue chip out of your old key and swap it over to the other key and your good to go. For my car I now have 2 keys. one key unlocks the doors and trunk the other key starts the car. All up it took me 1.5 hours work and $70 the car runs fine.

@@dallasdorrington7449 thank you for that i really appreciate it. My remote uses 2 (two) CR2016 batteries. I haven't used the remote in years. I open door manually always because either the button isn't working or the batteries are dead. Let's assume the batteries are dead - is it possible to turn on the ignition?
