Great expose! I have an Alesis andromeda, Waldorf iridium keyboard, Roland JDXA, Akai Force, and Maschine Plus. I run this through a Roland MX-1. I don’t see a lot of live musicians using them and it’s Nuts because it really is a valuable electronic music performance tool. Being able to connect the JDXA through USB and it’s locked tight! I run the Force and Maschine through the MX-1 and there’s a relatively limitless set of performance options, Breakdowns, fade-downs, stutters, and it’s a Blast!
I'd recommend using PC audio recording software and a midi keyboard instead. This 90s relic has the worst interface in any standalone box. PS It's really fun not playing in Cmin too...
We keep a dozen of pedals and a modular with ours in the center of the house, it drones away and keep the vibe right. Great video, and choice of effects
Thank you thank you. I've had a 303 for years n haven't had the time or place to play with it ( I live in a van ). Decided to figure it out n thanks to you I'm sure I'll learn something lol hahahaha
Perhaps you can help me! I'm wanting to sequence the MC303 from my Digitakt, along with a number of other gear. The issue I'm finding is that it plays on every midi channel. From what I've read, it's meant to be automatically 1-7 for the tracks with 10 for r. But I can't get this be the case. Is to that it's only this for midi out, and midi in will always be on all channels? Is there a way around this? Even hacky?
Thank you are very helpful to explain the TR 8, thank you. How can i safe the new drum pattern if i want to use these for the next day? Has the TR 8 a memory bank or to safe the data? I discoverd if you turned the TR 8 off, is my drumpattern which i wanted to use gone
Dammit I want a kaoss pad, but they don’t make the one I want anymore I don’t think. Not sure where to find one, can’t remember the exact one it is I want, or the name anyway, and I’m broke.
But you can use the 303 without a midi cable also, right? I mean you could connect it to some [mono] guitar fx pedal to modify the 303’s built-in sounds, and make them a bit grittier - make them sound less dated, right? Please let me know. Cheers!
Cool video! Question: Trying to get my Rhodes 73 to split the signal into two pedal chains as well into my DAW, but the Rhodes doesn't put out a big signal which is my trouble spot. Do I need a booster pedal or something like your MXR Dynacomp to boost the signal before splitting it? Hosa Splitter to split the sound into stereo channel OR use one of my pedals (Strymon Blue Sky) that uses stereo out to split the chain? I have the Neve RNDI Stereo DI Box, but that seems like the last step in my chain. For recording purposes exclusively, I'm trying to figure out how to split the signal like you do. Do I need a mixer? Is the 1 Volt line out from my Fender Champ Amp enough to get back to the RNDI for a channel signal? Im confused how to set up my system to split the Rhodes Mono into a Dual Stereo channel for recording purposes and if you could help me out or offer some advice I'd be super grateful!
I saw your terrific TR-8 video, which motivated me to follow it with my long-neglected TR-8 that I recently pulled out for my studio desk. I knew about the pieces here and there, but you did a great job with demonstrating the use of it and following it on my device had things made more sense and made the process so much less intimidating. Great to see something similar with the MX-1, though I'll save the video to rewatch once I decide to put it on my studio desk. One thing to get through the documents, another to have a good show-and-tell session to make things feel usable. Much appreciated!
Hello, I recently bought this product and in the ad description, it said that it was possible to import samples to the Tr8, I would like to know how this can be done because I have not found any way.
If I set the R to a 1 bar 909 loop sequence , does it also mean that all the rest of the rhythm section 1, 2 , 3 etc using for example a bass does it also have be 1 bar loop or can I go for 4-8 bars without any problems ?
