OK, so was having mighty fun trying to get my repeat right until I figured out where I was going wrong. The repeat works as follows:- 1 tr, Flower 1, 6 tr, Flower 2, 6tr, Flower 3, 6trb - then repeat again but remember to begin again with 1 tr, Flower 1, 6tr, Flower 2, etc... So it's actually 7 trebles between each repeat of 3 Flowers section and it's on this 7th tr that you begin with the first flower of the next 3 flower repeat. I kept forgetting to begin with the extra 1tr and was working with the 6trs between each flower which was giving me too many flowers and not enough stitches at the end of the row. Hope this helps anyone else who might be getting stuck. Sometimes it's the basics that can confuse!
Yeah, I had the same experience and figured it out after struggling for a whole day: ‘Why can’t I make 6 tr at the end of the row and have 16 flowers instead of 15?!’ Thank God it isn’t just me. 😭
Thank you so much for this! I was just watching the video again as I couldn’t work out what was wrong and why I had too many stitches at the end of the row. Fab.
Hi, week 3 instructions state that to complete the tulip: remove hook from 5th treble, insert thru top of first treble, back into loop of 5th treble then YO AND PULL THRU BOTH LOOPS. in the video it’s simply pull the 5th loop thru the first as the last step (ie no YO). Does this make a material difference?
Hi sorry for asking can some one tell me how to do this 5th Row. 2ch, 3htr, (bobble, 1htr) twice, bobble, 5htr, (bobble, 1htr) twice, bobble, 3htr, turn. I cant get my head round it
I'm so confused as to how to start Row 2, is it the same as Row 3? At the end of Row 2, the pattern says at the last 2 stitches, skip 1 but it looks like you're skipping both in the video and going into the chain 2 which I thought was counted as a stitch from previous row? Many thanks for any help
The chain 2 to start Row 2 is the htr for the first stitch. So instead of making a htr in that first stitch, the chain 2 will fill that in. So you skip that first stitch and crochet 94htr in the rest. This is from what I’ve understood, I hope it makes sense. Row 3 is the same. The chain 3 is the tr for the first stitch, which is why she skips two in the beginning.
It’s very confusing when you don’t start from beginning for those of us that need to follow along row by row. I work in US terms and need to visually see what you are doing because reading a pattern is confusing with the stitches called something else
@@lynnhind2398 Yes. Its ok if you're watching on a mobile phone you can zoom in but that's not possible on a computer/laptop and the camera is too far above the work and Lyndsey's hands are blocking the piece. 🥴
I'm debating which is the lesser evil.... Following the written pattern and carry the other colors.... Or follow the video, not carry the yarn but have a whole lot of ends to weave 😅
Thanks again for a great tutorial. I do wonder why, when you’re securing your tail ends, you don’t simply use the crochet hook to latch in and weave it through?
Am loving the panels for Week 2 and am nearly completed so It will be a long wait for Week 3☺ but if possible, could you bring the camera a little closer and down towards the piece you are demonstrating? Thanks☺
I'm loving this blanket so far and the videos are super helpful. I'm a bit confused with the double crochet though. I thought a stitch with no yarn over to begin with was called a single crochet? I'm not an experienced crocheter so any comments would be helpful 😁
The pattern is made using UK terms whereas what you've described is in US terms. UK double crochet = US single crochet UK half treble = US half double crochet UK treble = US double crochet. Hope that helps
Crochet has mainly 2 different "languages" US or UK. They are the same stitches but with different names. Any good pattern will start by telling you which terminology they are using. This CAL, in the first video and written instructions, says it's using UK terms. The designer has handily in the notes section also listed the US equivalent names next to the UK name. So the stitch you are describing is known as a double in UK terminology but in US terminology it is known as a single. There are lots of conversion charts on the internet for those more familiar with one set of terms over the other if they are attempting a pattern in their less familiar terms. Hope this helps 😊😊
Please could you let me know how much of the Primrose is used in the blanket in total. Primrose was missing in my yarn kit, substituted with another ball of Lemon! I have a random used ball of yellow (no label) in my stash with 75g remaining. I think it’s probably Sirdar Bonus DK as that’s my favourite go to wool. Thanks for your help. Mandy
Hope everyone is enjoying the first week? I am but I would like to know though, is anyone else finding Panel 4 - with the three colour changes and carrying - a bit fiddley? 🥴
I did and then I found I pulled the yarn a little tighter on that row than others so it’s a tad wobbly down the sides. I did better on panel 5 😅I’ll just try and tidy it up on joining the panels 🤞
@@angiewillis1769 There's no rush @angiewillis1769, stick with it though and it will be worth it. I think you'll enjoy Weeks 2 & 3 when you get to them as the chevron is a lovely easy pattern to follow. 🙂
Does anyone please have the names of the colours? The bundle has sold out so I just want to buy the yarn individually which they have on the sidar website, thankyou xx
Same, I'm trying to buy the yarns individually from the site as they have all the colours in stock just costs £5 more than the bundle X just need to figure out the right yarn colours
I think there's two errors for the panel 4. 1. On 3rd row it should start with 2 ch. 2. To get the size 30cm x 15cm (11.75" x 6") we need to work total 18 rows instead 17th.
worth noting though in the actual pattern it says to carry the cream even over the rows that are just HTC stitches and no bobble, instead of cutting at the end of the row like the video states. So you would be missing half (ish) of the height added by carrying the yarns if you follow the video instead of the written, hopefully this makes sense
@@jadoreux I understand now. So, based on the pattern, it takes 17 rows to make 15cm when carrying the yarn for Panels 4 & 5. However, if you follow the video instructions, which suggest not carrying the yarns, it requires 18 rows to achieve the same measurement of 15cm. Personally, I prefer not to carry yarn B on the WS, for the same reasons mentioned in the video, as well as A (cream) on all RS. I hope others find this reasoning sensible too. Thanks!
