Talking watches in a hopefully not pretentious and joyful way. My goal is to showcase watches the way they deserve to be shown: their unique purpose, functions and beauty.
This is an interesting topic. Like many, RU-vid informed my early watch knowledge but it quickly stagnated with most peddling similar "group think" content. There also seems to be under the table deals informing a lot of content and supposedly impartial reviews, with one notable RU-vidr that you mentioned in particular (definitely not Archie, love that man!).
I have a Seiko that runs off 9 seconds a day. A Rolex is at 2. The difference is 7 seconds a day. But to bring this in perspective, a day has 86.400 seconds. Thus, the difference in accuracy is just 0,008%. Of course it’s an enormous premium as a whole, but the whole precision thing does not make any sense to me on a larger scale.
With all of this being said, I've been considering purchasing a Black Bay 36 with the anthracite dial. It has the Tudor MT5400. There are similar BB 36s, minus the "jubilee" bracelet, chronometer certification, and "in-house" movement. Which one should I get? One of the things I like most about the 2023 model is the magnetic resistance because I work around fairly strong magnets as well as electronics. It's a huge selling point to me, but I don't know if the price difference is worth it.
To your point about quartz watches, my wife loves luxury items. She sees my watches and hey, she wants one too. But...she would absolutely not be interested in a manual wind timepiece or even a mechanical watch. She wants something beautiful and luxurious but without the fuss. Her Cartier Ballon Bleu quartz checks all those boxes. Great video Gringa!
As the ancient Knight proclaims at the end of Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade. You have chosen ‘Wisely’. Can’t wait to see in person. Love you Britt. X
the snobs don't like the name Seiko?Wait until I show up at the party sporting my pre 1980's Timex. Oh the snobbery I'll encounter. But it still keeps time.
Geez, these are making the pop of orange and blue on my Club Neomatik 740 seem downright boring. Now I need one of these new colorful ones. Would love to see some of these color waves applied to the Tetra.
Loving my Sugess Daytona! Working great after sending it back for repairs. My quartz Omega is z best as is my Breitling quartz w/lithium battery….4 years to a battery on that one…4 years!!!!
idk people complain about quartz. you get better precision, u don't need to ajust the time or date, and nobody cares if u can see the mechanical system through the glass u can't even see when wearing it.
The Bauhaus set is nice, adds a great background with color and fun, just like your videos. Nomos is great, love the colors. Great choice, but it is hard to lose with any of the Nomos options.
Ive been looking at the spitfire and Mark XX for a couple of years but the price has stopped me from pulling the trigger. I always wind up finding a more reasonably priced piece that’s just as comparable…
Most of IWC’s issues are within their brand identity and heritage. The iconic Big Pilot came out in 2002 as a modern interpretation of the 1940 B-Uhr pilot watch. Who was wearing these watches in 1940? It was the Nazis. Their entire pilot line is based off a Nazi watch. Yeah the same Nazis that bombed London and orchestrated the Holocaust. Their website likes to talk up the history but they never mention who was actually wearing it in 1940. It’s a shameful and nasty heritage. IWC both tries to sell the heritage and hide it at the same time. I am disappointed you left out the true heritage. I’d really like your thoughts on the Nasty German Flieger watches and their history, Britt.
Lots of good colour combinations, but these aren't really for me. For some reason I find them pretty boring and a bit overpriced for what yet get. I like the Club, so it's probably just a style / taste thing. Still, where is the value in them? I can't really see any sort of superior finishing for the money.
