A LEADING LIGHT IN TRAUMA MANAGEMENT
In Pakistan, trauma is a major cause of disease and disability, with the majority of affectees hailing from the younger strata of the populace.

The circumstances in Sindh are indeed more awful, as Karachi’s, its provincial capital and the 2nd Largest city in Pakistan, ​overextended healthcare facilities are incapable of managing the numbers of casualties witnessed daily.

An ever-growing metropolis with a staggering 47.9 million population, the city’s trauma cases are on a rise due to expanding traffic and consequent road traffic accidents as well as a steep crime rate, which is fuelled by social and geopolitical factors. Bearing this in mind, the Sindh Government with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairperson, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, marked the groundbreaking ceremony of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) on December 23rd, 2015.
