I think you should revisit this subject and expand on it. Nothing in the article you referenced explains income tax reductions and bonus depreciation. 1. If you have a business entity you can expense the aircraft and all business related expenses to reduce your income tax obligations. IRS really monitors aviation write offs and your logs and records must show that you use more than 51% business purposes. You do not get to expense any personal uses. Again careful record keeping and making sure you have a legitimate business purpose for every trip, meeting, conference, convention, etc. please read Former IRS Attorney Scott Estill of Denver, amazon book “tax this“. Scott once told us that he never takes a vacation. But he takes a lot of really great business trips. Aircraft was receiving 100% bonus depreciation up to 2023?, now it’s a smaller percentage but I recommend consulting with an aviation tax planning expert on current business depreciation for aircraft. A business entity can rent out the aircraft for revenue. 2. You can form a private non profit corporation in most US States. After which you should and can form a flying club with other members. The other members may be the people in your own family. Mom dad brother sister. As a PNP you would apply to the IRS for tax exempt status. Again consult with a tax planning expert on aviation. Regular tax exempt entities will apply under 501(c)(3)? However for aircraft and some other types of vehicles (boats?) you apply under 501(c)(7). As I recall. Then when you go shopping for any aircraft you have tax exempt status and you won’t pay sales taxes on the purchase price nor will you pay use taxes in states that have use tax and you won’t have to pay personal property tax on aircraft where you are storing it. Texas sales tax on aircraft is over 8%, and the State collects use tax which means the FAA is providing Comptroller with your data, local appraisal districts can assign property tax to the value of the aircraft. This is a good way to eliminate all of these taxes. Good content and much more information about the pro and cons of buying aircraft would be helpful content to your channel. Maybe recruit an aviation tax planning expert.
There's a walk/bike/running trail on the south end of the runways in SLC. Go past Flight safety heading south and take the next right, the trail takes you all the way across the airport. An old airline pilot tip.
Well I just looked it up and its super weird how you need a second class medical for your commercial license which is a prerequisite to CFI but CFI only needs a third class. I wouldve guessed second class but i guess not?
Actually only basic med so it takes it even a step further. The reason you don’t need a second class medical is that the faa sees compensation for instructing as compensation for teaching not piloting
Nice content. I have a niece and a nephew from different families that are each pursuing their commercial license and after a year in their colleges they are not flying that much. Can they build hours with experimental aircraft flying? Do the non certified aircraft hours help build their hours?
Night flying is nice, no sun to blind you. The seat doesn't look it has much padding. Getting hit or hitting something really gets the adrenaline flowing. It's always nice to fly with you Kaity, happy Monday.
Haha I’m trying to spread the word on the 1 mile pattern. It seems a lot of the big pilot mils don’t emphasize that and it’s my number one pet peeve lol
Love this night flight video! QQ: For full stop for night landing, do you have to exit the runway and taxi back around? Or can you come to a full stop on the runway?
Thanks for the video Kaity! I’ve actually never flown a basic traffic pattern in the PC-12 so it was helpful to see your patten procedures. Did you do a full stop and taxi back each time or did you touch and go?
Poor little bat! Made it through the prop only to smack into the windshield. I hit something one night a long time ago over central Jersey. Turns out geese do poop in flight; who knew? I don't think that was reportable, though.
No, thankfully just the poop. That was all that was on top of the windscreen. Friend hit a goose for real getting night current at KAVP 15 or 20 years ago. If it weren’t so serious, it would have been cartoonishly funny. The Mooney tail captured the goose perfectly, with 1 leg to the left, and one to the right. Wish I still had pics. Thanks for all the content. I’ve suggested your channel to a number of college-age youngsters considering a pro-pilot career.
Respectfuly please put a scarf on you head 🙏 my eyes 😅😂 BTW love your video not like love them you are honest and doing the best my opinion get married asap
Alright, i can’t say what airplanes I fly out of an executive airport in The ATL, or I’ll blow my cover. But I will say your content is so inspiring! Please keep it coming, kiddo!
Do not count out gigs like…Corporate rotor gigs home every night. Airborne LEO gigs home at night or day. ENG rotor gigs home every day too. Jobs that are interesting and may have some RONs are gigs with the FAA. Some other govt gigs, both fixed and rotor, offer one to be home lots. Down at the Army’s home to aviation; which I still call Ft Rucker, they have lots of civilian instructor gigs. Mostly rotor, but some fixed wing too. Shop around and find the gig that works best for you.
Flew commercial out of there many times when I lived in OC. Question: Do you have noise abatement restrictions like the commercial flights as you depart over Costa Mesa? It's very unnerving taking off and feeling the pilot throttle back to 70% almost immediately after getting airborne. It feels like we're going to drop out of the sky.
Wow, that was a long flight! Four hours of flight time, that definitely feels like a limit for sure. I’ve done 3 1/2, and after that my keister was screaming.😂😂😂 nice flight!
Great videos Kaity! Just curious why you don't use a ForeFlight callsign? It seems it would be easier when editing videos not have to edit out your tail number. I use one all the time, but I don't make videos. Just for company privacy.
I noticed your ITT while listening to the ATIS was ~200C. You also called out a hot start. Did you have to motor it down multiple times before starting? In the TBM we have to be under 150C prior to start. Even lower if it's a high DA day to prevent exceedance. Nice video, thanks for sharing!
