As a professional pilot this is all I do when I'm not flying. Physical therapy type workouts and eating healthy. Not only do I want to be able to fly when I get old, but also enjoy my favorite hobbies like surfing and kiteboarding. Thanks for this awesome info Kaity!

Without a doubt, walking is exercise! One outage I was involved (I'm an engineer at power plants), I had to walk between two power plants (they are well concealed in NYC and you have to look real hard to identify on google maps). they were about a mile apart. I did that for a few months and found out I lost quite a bit of weight, along with my cholesterol going down doing that every day! Going up an down the steep metal stairs in near 100 degree heat (we make steam to turn the turbine to turn the generator) helps as well. Of course keep hydrated which is something they always preach because of the nature of my job. I go crazy sitting behind a desk which is why I chose to be in the field.

I have to say that drinking distilled water is way better for me than filtered water. I have stopped drinking any caffeine and have water instead. As an international pilot I do have to be careful what I bring into another country. I love walking around the cargo deck in flight, which might be a bonus as a 747 pilot. I find stretching every time you get up from the pilots seat and before sitting back down again to be very helpful. For sleeping at home I use traditional Japanese sleep system. I find meditation important or some other form of mental relaxation such as Transcendental Meditation or even the ASMR videos on RU-vid. Pilots life can be stressful and having a way of relaxing your brain will also have positive effects on your body. Happy Sunday

Former Firefighter pushing 50 and man, it gets harder and harder as the joints fall apart. I remember when I was a young jock listening to all the old guys complain about aches. Now I'm that guy. It hurts to work out. Heck even resting can be painful. lol. One thing I'd suggest to anybody on the move or busy.. I drink down organic plant (pea) protein shakes. Doesn't cause gut bloating like whey protein and soy. It's good stuff. Good tip on the glass bowls. I need to get rid of my plastic stuff. And quit buying bottled water. Hydration is a big thing in firefighting. I've drank thousands of bottles of water. That plastic can't be good. Nice to hear other intelligent people's routines on staying healthy. Thanks!

I absolutely love this video!! As a 53yr old corporate pilot, I’m constantly looking for different ways to stay healthy and stay in shape. You gave some really good tips. Thank you so much for sharing! I also was a collegiate athlete and am constantly battling inflammation. I’ve recently found that taking glucosamine has helped with some inflammation issues in some of my joints. A rheumatologist told me that glucosamine isn’t bad on the liver and recommend that I continue taking it. But I do agree with you, “keep walking”. I like to jog but walking I feel is just as good. Thanks again.

@@pilotkaity well, I tell people that I played football in college, but when I tell em what position I played they give me &$#@! I was a place kicker at a small d2 college in South Carolina.😂😂😂 It was small time but I really enjoyed it and it taught me a lot. I’ve got a son that plays baseball at a d2 school South Carolina school right now and he’s absolutely loving it. Athletics are hard on your body especially later in life but I wouldn’t change it. I’m pushing 60. I ride 150+ miles a week on my bicycle. Eat mainly protein. Carbs on long ride days for energy and more protein so I don’t lose muscle mass. Spend lots of time stretching. Ice cold showers for inflammation. BAD habits, snuff and sodas.

Biking is my go to as well. Good exercise for older joints. My AME said one of the most common injuries with pilots is broken bones from biking accidents. Recovering right now from a bad MTB wreck lol. Kick that snuff! I gave it up Years ago and haven't looked back.

Fantastic info, as always! I can relate-I used to compete in bodybuilding and still consider getting back on stage. As a major airline pilot, staying fit on the road can be challenging. My training partner, Stan Efferding, launched the Vertical Diet some time ago, and I’ve been using his meals while traveling. I even have flight attendants heat them up for me during flights. Keep up the great work!

Kaity you have great content and as a former Part 135/CFI guy in mid-life working on making a career comeback I am getting real value from your work. I say this next part respectfully... you don't need resort to Instagram style thumbnail photos selling your body to get views. If this is a one off thing I get it. But you will lose me if this channel becomes like 99% of the rest of social media with pretty girls leveraging their physique to their male audience to drive engagement. Keep it modest, keep it professional and keep the excellent insights and instruction coming. 🙏

Hi John! My husband makes me thumbnails and edits my videos. His idea behind using these photos was to show that I am someone who is very physically fit and he (and I) don’t feel they’re sexually provocative. Thanks for sharing your opinion but rest assured this is not that kind of channel 🤣
