It's amazing you guys recognized Keira Knightley. Her own mother had trouble telling her from Natalie Portman when they were made up for court. Apparently their facial structures are very similar.
It is sad that Anakin didn't have the experience to work with qui-gon. Obi-Wan is an excellent teacher but he still needed more experience to be able to maybe hold Anakins ego in check. With both of their assistance he might have had a better chance. We have too many people telling him he was the chosen one how powerful he would become and it just inflated his ego. Ash needs to understand the rules of being a jedi. It's like being a priest do you have to give up everything to become what you are meant to be. It's funny how Ash says he relates to Anakin and then Anakin becomes Darth Vader.
39:34 YES! THANK YOU, YOU GET IT. Too many people gloss over the true tragedy of Anakin's character. He's a slave his entire life. First as Watto's, then he's a slave to the Jedi, being expected to fulfill their ancient prophecy and give everything to the Jedi cause in return, and then finally he ends up a slave to the Emperor. Only in his final minutes talking to Luke is the man ever truly free: "I've got to save you-" "You already have."
- Jango Fett is a Mandalorian, a culture in the Star Wars universe that is based on fighting and developing yourself to be the best warrior you can be. The Mando'ade welcome most species, all one must do is accept the Creed. The armor that Jango wears is Mandalorian made from Beskar, which it light and strong, and only the Mando'ade have the secrets to forge it. Kind of like the adamantium of Wolverine's claws and skeleton in X-Men. Jango's son, if you missed his name, is Boba Fett...the bounty hunter who took Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt, and fell into the Sarlacc pit. Clan Fett had a long and proud lineage among the Mando'ade, but fell before the Prequel Trilogy. - The Clone Troopers are all created from Jango, but are grown and fight for the Republic. - The reason why Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple is two-fold. 1) Samuel L. Jackson asked George Lucas if it could be purple, because he wanted to see where he was in long shots. 2) In the lore, Mace was such a powerful Jedi that he could skirt the dark side of the Force without falling to it. What happens when you mix the colors of red and blue...you get purple. - Ash, you are right about Count Dooku's saber. Where most sabers were built along the lines of seeing the Jedi like samurai (since Akira Kurosawa films were a big influence on the series), when Sir Christopher Lee was hired, George discovered that he had a fully trained fencing master playing Count Dooku. As a result, Dooku's saber is more fit for a single hand, with greater control, and precision in landing blows. It is more like a fencing saber, foil, or epee than a katana. - One thing to always remember, the Force always seeks balance. With Anakin there is a chance of the balance to happen...not giving spoilers...but there are things set in the lore beyond what is in the films that explain things further. - Obi-wan was not meant to take on Anakin, the way that Anakin would never have turned is if Qui-Gon Jinn had lived. Hannah was completely right. The key to this is the battle between Qui-Gon, Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan...the music under their fight, composed by John Williams, was titled "Duel of the Fates". It was a duel over Anakin's fate. Qui-Gon would have been a fatherly master, but with Obi-Wan...Anakin got a big brother. They both cared for each other, but Obi-Wan, as powerful and smart as he was, was unequal to the task of training Anakin. He lacked the wisdom that Qui-Gon had. - Hannah...you need to dress up as Padme for the last of the Prequels, Revenge of the Sith.
Great character makeup, always love your reactions. The discussions you have are fantastic and i look forward to hearing them. You are right you must judge the whole. Can't wait to watch episode 3 with you.
Ash and Hannah, I enjoy your conversations about the Jedi and how they treated Anakin. Again, the council knew he was too old and Yoda sensed danger in his training. This is why Qui Gon training Anakin could have saved Anakin. Qui Gon cared for Anakin which was something he felt the Jedi didn’t have for others. Hayden Christensen actually got a lot of hate from Star Wars fans. I find it quite interesting that Ash found his acting appropriate for the scenes. When Ash started criticizing jango for the high ground I started laughing. You’ll know why in episode 3. There is an animated clone wars tv series and a movie. I actually wouldn’t mind if you reacted to the clone wars movie. Lastly, Ash, I’ve been watching your reactions with Hannah for quite some time. Get the hint of what she wants…
This is similar to Luke and his journey, similar scene. Yeah... That's the exact scene, because that's where Luke grows up.. Owen and Berut, are Lukes aunt and uncle that get turned into charcoal by the empire
Ash your right about Dookus Saber hilt. He actually had it custom like that. Plus he trained some of the cast in swordsmanship lol Guy hunted Nazis and could have been a prince🤌🏽 but he decided to go into theater
I am really interested to see what you will think of the remainder of anakin's development into darth vader. That's also a really great point Hannah made about obiwan not being quigon. Obiwan had never trained anyone before anakin, he probably made some mistakes / fucked up some things along the way.
The Jedi is very adamant about guarding against emotional attachments. That is the reason why the Jedi in training is preferred to not have any emotional connections or ties because it is a distraction in their Jedi Training and an easy exploit for the dark side to win them over to their cause.
The prequels are very good. Just not as good as the originals. However, Disney Star Wars, except Rogue One, is utter garbage and gets progressively worse.
Qui-Gon was the father figure Anakin needed. Obi-Wan is the brother figure that Anakin got. Senator Palpatine had become Anakin's father figure - a bad father figure who fed Anakin's ego. FUN FACT: Actor Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) was an expert swordsman who knew his swords. The curved hilt sword he used is a Barong sword. Lee wanted his lightsaber combat style to be like the Tausug. The Tausug people use those Barong swords.
You kept saying that the bounty hunter's son was going to be the next Vader. But you forget, you have seen what happens after episode 2. There was a whole trilogy set after this. And all 3 films had this kid as an adult making an appearance. Just look at his dad's armour again, and then pay close attention to the Dad's name and the kids name. Hopefully, you will realise
I will take any excuse to repost this classic clip from the Plinkett review of Episode II where he just tears in to Anakin for being an awkward weirdo who coasts by on his looks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hz1L63TdhC8.htmlsi=kdoKPReNqR9Yk6QE
My wife and I watched this for a bit of escapism right after the Brexit referendum. "There is unrest in the Galactic Senate. Several thousand solar systems have declared their intentions to leave the Republic." Us: "Oh, FFS."
Jesus. Was all of that coincidence or do you know more than you let on? When you were talking about your suspicions about the Chancellor being the hooded Sith Lord, you referenced Dooku instead so many times. Dooku who was of course played by the great late Christopher Lee. "Your a count" as in Count Dooku. "Your a Dracula" as in a character Christopher Lee has played many times. "You talk like you are a British Villain from James Bond" as in the Bond Villain Scaramanga who was played by Christopher Lee (Lee is also British.) Like genuinely, did you realise you were listing a ton of links to a different actor in this film, or is it just coincidence you referenced most of Lee's most famous roles?
