While a dictionary can give you the definition of empathy, Dr. Judith Orloff conceptualizes empathy that is both simple to grasp and applicable to your daily life. I listened to her audiobook several times, putting into practice how to engage with others, has help me connect with others on a deeper level. Empathy is feeling WITH others and understanding another person’s perspective without losing your own. Thank you Dr. Orloff for harnessing the genius of being empathic. She makes it clear that caring for oneself doesn't have to be sacrificed for caring others.
I had narcissist family member who was all of them! sob sister drama queen who also was a constant talker. Total energy vampire, who also constantly blamed and criticized and badmouthed everyone
My mom is a chronic energy vampire. She complains from the time I answer her calls. It's exhausting and draining. I try avoiding her calls constantly too.
Just hearing her say that... wow. Just that made so many situations throughout my entire life make sense. I can even tell you the trigger event. Sonnova.... Than You. Now I must read this.

Thank you Tami for hosting Judith. She is such a great Dr and lovely person. The world needs her , I need her. Thanks for asking her about her tool box.Very helpful info here . I have her book titled The empaths servival guide and that thing is beat up awritten in and i love it. I will be getting her new book The genius of empathy next .She rocks on all her info about how to handle dealing with the complexities of empathy in whatever form one has and also how to better deal with those who don`t. That is sooooo helpful.
The thing about people who are angry at everything, there is usually an underlying issue they are not dealing with, so something is wrong with EVERYTHING rather than the confronting the specific issue, an issue that may hurt to much to deal with or a person who they feel they can not confront.

Hello, I've known all my life that I felt others' emotions. It's so hard to find someone in the mental health field who truly believes in it. I have listened to you on audible.
Hello, I really wish I had met and knew about you when I was young because it's been hard. Most mental health professionals don't believe in being an Empath.
Useful information. My favorite centering technique is to take off my shoes & socks & walk on grass in parks & outdoors. Water energises me. Gentle rhythmic freestyle lap swimming in a well-maintained Olympic swimming pool is always calming & centering & relaxing. A key is to breathe bi-laterally or equally on each side no matter your stroking & breathing rhythm. I was once an assistant to an Olympic swimming coach.
"If you want love, go inside. If you want peace, go inside. And then radiate that peace to the world." Thank you for the reminder Baba Ram Dass. I miss you...
Not everyone has Intuition (mostly based on MBTI Types). So this is not an advice for everyone. And if I'm correct - you are of the most Intuitive MBTI Type, so it seems to you - that everyone can develop it.
These interviewers heightened my anxiety. Their energy was so disruptive and chaotic. Judith is an amazing teacher and they did not effectively utilize their time with her.
I was abused by this child predator! Oprah can't protect you from the law Judith! You will face God some day but it is my personal quest to reveal you as the child abuser you are in the public square!
