St. Augustine grass is really a cool grass. You can take a runner and cut the strong part of the stem on an angle just above a split to make needle pluggers for small bare spots. You just need to keep the soil wet for about a week so they begin to root.

You’re supposed to only spray the weed killer one time not, not go over it more than once.

Babyyyy I did this with some st Augustine from my front yard and put it in my back yard and every one I planted took root and grew…I literally planted them in a huge spot that was all mud no grass….i kept it wet…and BOOM I have grass…I need to cut it for the first time now 😊

I just bought it today because it was on sale at walmart for $6 bucks. Now I'm only going to try it in the space between the sidewalk and street to see if it kills everything like what happen to you. Thanks for the video

Another option if you aren’t up to digging up the old sod by hand is to rent a sod-cutter. The things work great and leave a smooth bare surface of dirt. Places like Home Depot rent them by the day. I guess it depends on how big your lawn is as to what works best. I’m facing the task of redoing my front yard which used to be beautiful St. Augustine but was invaded by some weird grass which has pretty much taken over. Not sure what my plan is yet.

This guy is a colossal idiot! Not only is this thing not cheap but it is very hard to put up. Then he goes on digressions about things that have no relation to the topic at hand This is NOT a do it yourself kit. It's store bought, i.e., I don't need a video to do this. Bonus points for hitting his own irrigation hose! Lets go for a taking out the neighbors power line

I had St Augustine on my front lawn and developed tarr. Eventually, bermuda took over, and after mowing every 3 to 4 days, my lawn looks like a goft field now. To me, St. augustine is more suseptible to diseases and requires more water. I do have 90% St Augustine in the back lawn that grows well except has some non dying yellow blades in the same are every year while the rest is green. I applied a fungus control because if it's iron deficiency it would be the entire lawn that is deficient and not partially.

I’m sitting here watching my newly planted hydrangeas wilting in real time and it’s not even 90ish much. (Alabama here). I’ve never had to shade anything near my house. We get shade. These hydrangeas get only 4hr of sun a day….but they were 3 gal pots and pretty big already so they aren’t established yet and I’m scrambling. Right now I’m putting my garden chairs in front of them 😂. It’s working for the most part but if they don’t get some legs soon and harden off I’m in trouble July and August. I’ll need something. Ty for the tips.

I want Bermuda grass to take over so for years I cut it very low still the Saint Augustine moves in even though it covers the ground it just doesn’t look good lots of bare spots. I’d much prefer Bermuda.

Thanks. I have almost the same problem with our St. Augustine...thinking it may be root density primarily due to two mature live oaks less than 15 feet apart. Also my simplistic fertilizing with the blue miracle grow packets in the end-hose sprayer probably didn't do much to help.

Those smaller elephant ears still look pretty good🐘. It's been a few years now, so hopefully, you have towering plants by now. I just bought a one foot high plant, so we have a loooong way to go! Happy plantings💚!

@@freewillchoice8052 It's been a lifesaver. I even have a smaller one hanging down on the west side to block the evening sun. It's been between 100 and 110 degrees every day lately and the plants are taking a beating, but without the shade, they would've been dead a long time ago.
