Outstanding, Blake. You are an epic adventurer. And please don't let these maintenance nancys get you down about your boat. Having owned several...elderly?...boats and automobiles there comes a time when literally no amount of work will make them great but they still have life left in them. I think you're doing it exactly right. When the time comes a new boat will become available, and until then the one you have is better than the one you don't.
i think the pieces of wood/panels are meant to be a kind of a nest protection for sailors to hold them while they are asleep...maybe it is missing the piece/mechanism which holds them up.
I encourage all misanthropes like me should go sailing. You are out there I know. When having books and the ocean you don't need people. I am taking my first sailing lessons next month and go from there, inspired by this channel. So thanks.
Hate to get too personal but i have wondered this for months , i never really see you spending money , catch your food, no electricity or water bills haha how do you spend 500 a month ?
Great video Dan, thank you so much for doing it. Well done Blake. I respect people who just say F-it and go for it. A lot of people know how how talk and can't do. You my man just do. Hats off to Captain Sparrow. Much respect.
hell yeah brother! thanks for posting...this is roughly my budget for my first. Maybe 20 total after refitting for coastal cruising. Im looking for under 30ft though since im coming from 3 years fulltime vanlife itll be an upgrade hahah Anyway keep these tours/interviews coming - some of my favorites ! Much appreciated!
I think it's only fair either one of these guys comes and lives at my place on the mainland for a few weeks and I'll take over their boat. They can deal with my crazy neighbors with their dogs barking all day and crapping on my law all night, not to mention their ever playing rap music and non stop fighting. In exchange I promise to keep their batteries charged up and scrape the bottom of the boat. let me know / thanks
Great, now just need a fine babe to keep you company, some good friends and a few hobbies, and staying in touch with family, then the living in paradise story will be complete
I've worked on those $300m 250 ft mega yachts and I grew up with my dad's $60k 32 ft. I love both and have just as much fun on both but for different reasons. It's like trying to compare in-n-out to Ruth's Chris steak House.
I love your boat tours, man. They deserve their own playlist (Maybe you already have one and I could not find it) .I dream of having a boat and those prices you have. Here in Brazil, everything costs 2 or 3 times ..You should consider coming down here. Look for Paraty and Ilha Grande (Rio de Janeiro State). Cheers
Props to this guy for following his dream but goodness, that is a ROUGH boat. Prioritizing a TV and video games over the actual base level maintenance that this boat requires is truly a fascinating mismanagement of priorities. I'm trying my best to look past the rotting concrete, rust, and other critical areas that needs to be addressed. But you know what? Good for him for living his best life - he seems to not take life too seriously and we should all take a moment to be less serious on the daily. But maintaining this life means putting a modicum of effort to make sure he can continue having a view of those islands instead of having the same view Dan has when he's spear fishing because that is one sinking boat. Cool dude though. Fun interview. Lots of space inside the boat. Really fascinating challenge he put forward for himself. Hopefully he can get that upgraded boat he wants so he can continue his adventure above the waterline. Love his passion for wanting to learn more and explore. Fair winds, Captain Sparrow and Adventureman Dan.
@Dawgmeatt not sure I'm tracking - I watched the full video, and around every bend, Dan emphasized the condition of this boat falling to pieces - it's clearly a boat that has been a victim of gross negligence. I personally think its amazing what this guy has accomplished and how well he's doing for himself, all things considered, but this boat needs a lot of structural and aesthetic TLC. Literally wishing him well and hoping he can upgrade to what he wants, considering he's working for it. But let's not pretend like this boat isn't in incredibly rough shape and needs some important, prioritized fixes if he intends to keep living this lifestyle.
Put a treadmill on the back of the little ferry have the back wheel of the bike spin a propeller attached to the treadmill. Go all "the professor" on that!
Hey I asked for more budget sailor tours and here it is! Keep it up!! There are far more people in thier 20-40s who can afford a 30k and below sailboat over these 200k+ folks
Youre not steelmanning veganism. While i agree with you that hunting or spearfishing in your case is less impactful than commercial food production. What ive found is that when people use this argument it justifies their actions to consume commercially grown livestock or fish. There are many who grow, buy from local farmers market and forage their food with no animal suffering required. I think most vegans seek only to reduce suffering and in a modern world the easist means of doing so is eliminating animal products.
Love your videos and your boat Dan, both are awesome! I am looking for a boat so I can do what you are.........floating around the oceans enjoying life! You have kept your boat in great condition, she looks great. Do you think you got the right length yacht or if you did it all again, would you choose a bigger one? I am thinking for me, either a 38' or a 42', what do you think 🤔 Bring on the next video 😁 cheers from the Land Down Under 🦘😁
Saves a huge amount of money NOT having to buy a sailboat with a sugar scoop. Plus more sailboats to choose from just by knowing the swim platform can be added.
