Great video, I’m really thinking to go sailing just so that I can explore great kiteboarding spots. How do you finding launching off the boat? Or do you take the gear at the beach on the dingy? I’d love some info about your process and your experience kiting from a boat. I think a dedicated video on this topic would be very interesting!
It’s sort of a toy but more of a tool, but the best gadget I have on my boat is a Fujinon stabilizing 14x binoculars. At 14x power it’s dramatically more powerful and the stabilizer makes it all possible even at sea. Not cheap at about $1400 but treat it well and they last a lifetime. A must have aboard any sailboat.
Two things I would add are an ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle … ie not referred to improperly as an “underwater drone). This can explore things quickly and more deeply than SCUBA and additionally have video and lights. An ROV is practical for hull/prop/stuck anchor issues as well as general exploration. The second thing is electrically supplied HOOKA which is less bulky than SCUBA for boat maintenance like hull cleaning and unfouling props (50 ft of hose will cover most boats). 😎
No submersible drones to check anchors, find treasure, lobsters, fish? I seen one that even had a trolling set up. Checking yours and the boats around you in order to prevent dragging would rewarding alone. No?
