I have a miniature Kundo from my parents dating back to the 1950s. It hasn't run in many years due to a broken suspension spring. I have all the parts still attached to the broken spring. What's the best way to remove the pin from the bottom block in the pendulum?
I see I got a new 'like' on this comment. I'm happy to report the clock is fully working and keeping decent time! I was able to remove the pin by gently punching it out.
i don't think I will need to change my spring, but this is such a helpful video that I am sure that if I have to I will be able to do it with a bit more confidence. Thanks! i got a Kundo (not sure of the model or year) at a thrift shop for $10.99. I am going to let it run overnight (hopefully) to see if the spring will power it. I have gotten my wife into mechanical clocks. I have always been intrigued by true mechanicals. I found a Korean striking wall clock several years ago. Its timing accuracy is annoying but it is fun to have anyway. It kinda adds life to this "empty nest" and I am sure will be part of our grandchildren's memories of the house. I have one of those battery operated electromagnetic clocks. I had trouble getting it going, because I could not find parts. I am going to revisit it, because it is so pretty.
Awesome I’m looking at these clocks on eBay. Many are not working because of the torsion spring being broken. My grandma had one and was fascinated by it. Now I know I have a reference on repair or cleaning.

I have a model 53 Schatz struggling to get more motion only 3/4 turn and overswing maybe 1/4 inch, it has a bracket to adj the fork deeper or more shallow, ive played with that a litte trying to set deeper to increase motion? and adjusted fork up but may be spread a littl far apart? any suggestions!
Interesting video, and many thanks for showing the correct procedure. I had to make a Corian jig to hold the bottom spring in the compressed position to drive the tapered pin out of the bottom clamp. Someone at some time had bent one of the bottom collars and made it very hard to even get at this pin. I have loved these clocks since I was a kid and now that I am retired I have the time to learn a new hobby. These are a blast to restore since most of the older 400 day clocks were very well made and can be found at very reasonable prices. I didn't know about the cut glass being only on the older clocks. Any idea of when they made the change to pressed glass with the smooth edge?
Thanks for the video; you've confirmed that the pin on the bottom is a taper fit and now my spring has been replaced. Unfortunately, despite the old spring being severely kinked, it still won't run, but at least I've eliminated one thing.

Great live version of a tune I have always loved. I have one question: Why would as skillful a guitar player as that over-effect his sound like he does? One of his bandmates ought to drop that Fuzz Pedal in the toilet and force him to go a night without it. Albert Collins plugged his Fender Telecaster straight into a Fender Twin Reverb Amp and crushed. No Pinch Harmonics, no Big Muff Pi, just good old "earth shaking rhythm and blues". (Muddy, Etta, Wolf, Big Mama, Elmore and Hounddog smile down from on high.)
