Anything and Everything Operation Christmas Child. It's a ministry my family has loved helping with for many years and I want to share some things I've figured out along the way.
Well like I told someone before. I just put together images that I found with the copyright ones and if I'm asked to stop I will stop. I am by no means selling anything or profiting from it.
Would love to have links to specifically where you got the beads and wire. Also where you are getting the dinosaurs and farm animals, sticker sheets and pop tubes. We have a small church, but have recently been inspired to do more with OCC. I would love to have a work party like yours. Thanks so much in advance, you’re amazing and so inspiring!!!
Great video, Annabeth! I am a scrapbooker/papercrafter/cardmaker and I love using my skills to decorate my boxes. Sometimes, I even add a coat of Mod podge on top of what I have created, especially with self adhesive/sticker letters that have a tendency to lift up. TFS! Oh, and thank you for reinforcing the idea that it’s ok to use different sizes and shapes of boxes. 😊 I use bigger shoeboxes sometimes and smaller shoeboxes too!
I love scrapbooking! I've done it on and off through the years but slow down since having kids. I'm finally getting back into it a little bit and loving it! Modge podge is such a good idea! Yes and definitely wouldn't want anybody to feel bad about the boxes that they use. ❤️
I’ve used adhesive spray, double-sided tape, glue dots, glue sticks and Elmers type glue. They all work, but typically I am gluing card stock, images from toy packaging, greeting cards or calendar pages for lids so they are all a little bit thicker than plain copy paper, even the calendar pages. Currently I am using Elmer’s purple school glue that dries clear. I find it to be the most economical, easiest to use and obtain and works great. I have also used Jot clear glue (just like the Elmer’s) but haven’t seen it at DT in a long time. That glue tape you were using is pretty cool 👍. You’re right, we are always perfecting our shoeboxes and learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing. It is always helpful to see how others do things. ❤
I love all those ideas! I haven't heard of glue dots but that sounds really cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for those. I really like your idea about using calendar pages. I was thinking about looking at the end of the year for on sale calendars that have really cool pictures I could use.
I just found your channel and I love that you did this video. Actually, I just ordered 6 of the soccer balls to assess them, before I order more, so I was glad to hear your input on them and the other items, also. Thank you!
Oh wonderful yes I've really enjoyed everything I've gotten from them. I've been packing a couple of the soccer balls lately and I really am very happy with them. They definitely seem like great quality. 👍❤️
TFS! Tiffany from Blessed and OCC Obsessed also shows another way to put the lids designs on a box. She laminates them and puts the velcro sticky stuff on four corners of the back and then includes extras so they child can put it on a wall. And she attaches a string to it so it could be hung on a tack if they wanted to do it that way. Any way the lids are decorated it is very cute❤ Thanks for all the printables you make on your Facebook group!
No not at all this is just a fun option that some people like to do. For years I didn't decorate my boxes 👍 you can do whatever you like. Decorating or no decorating the child will be blessed!
Have you tried using a wet erase marker like a vis a vis marker? They work pretty well in my classroom for things I want to keep longer. Also there are great erasable pens called frixon pens by pilot that work really well Also, another teacher tip: when I have trouble getting chalk marker off, I’ve found going over it in expo marker works great to make it easy to remove. Just know that it can ruin your expo marker, so I tend to only use the ones that are very warn
Always interested how others organize. You have a very good system. I also bought the blackboard labels and found your same issues. So instead just use it as a permanent item label instead of a label where I have to erase, etc. TFS.
I agree I love to see how other people organize! I was really hoping that the dry erase would work great but I totally agree with you. Thank you so much for watching!
Great box!! If the Lego set box has some room open it and add another toy like some cars or even another puzzle with the picture from the puzzle box cut off and added. Or maybe a set of crayons or mini markers for a different coloring tool. Like I said great box and I’m sure any 10-14 girl will love it. 😊
The link for the containers on Amazon goes to a container that is only about 1 and a half inches square. That isn't the size your showing in the video. Could you update the link or share the dimensions of tge boxes you used? Thank you, the video is inspiring.
These particular beads we use for the bracelet making are the glass seed beads. You can find seed beads at hobby lobby or even off of amazon. They're the perfect size for the wire bracelets.
I watch most of your videos and I love your church's passion for OCC but I don't comment much because I tend to watch on TV while doing other things, not the computer. But I loved these boxes so much... I had to log into tell you what a beautiful job you did on them. Great job!!!
I’m grateful to see this review. I had the pleasure of talking with Betsy earlier this year. She is amazing, the products are good quality items and to give our support to a Christian business that’s supporting OCC is a great way to purchase for our boxes. ❤
Yes actually that's a great question. I've been asking this a couple times. We found that cutting through the paper after it's been laminated unseals it and it's no longer waterproof like we're hoping. We want these to last as long as possible so that's why we take the extra step to cut them first and then laminate.
@@sendingshoeboxes6090Thank you! So when you cut the laminated circles with scissors, they don't separate? I'm hoping to try this! Do you have a link for laminating sheets?
So the game we use says a 3 ft circle which I believe equates to a 9-foot piece of yarn. But is that too much yarn I feel like going as low as 6 or 7 ft is good too.
Wow Annabeth, you fit a lot in there!! Great idea for filler. I think I might have a couple of pink boxes like that from last year. I'll have to dig through my stock to find them.
Those are great filler items! I have several of those pencil cases and they usually end up being too big for my boxes. Great idea to send full for filler! Thanks for sharing!
Well that's a wonderful price! Our congregation donates to shipping and we're thinking about also doing a fun spaghetti dinner fundraiser or something like that next year as we're making more and more boxes.
I send these as fillers as well. I know Denise Rogers and Sharon from East Coast Stories also do. They call it a box within a box. Amazing how many items that can fit inside which makes for outstanding fillers. They did recommend putting a rubber band around the pencil box just to make sure they remain in place since things do get tossed around at the processing center. You did a great job on yours!
Yeah these are so great for filler! Everybody's got such good ideas they do with them. And no worries I definitely put rubber bands 👍 thanks so much for watching! 🥰
I am sending 2 retractable pens in each of my pencil pouches. The pens have a white covering on the tips. Should I remove the covering or will the children know to remove them? Thanks. Wanda Stafford
You know to be honest I've never really thought about it. I have sent pens before but I took off the covers without really thinking about it. I would say leave them on if you feel like they're going to get on something in your box but if not I typically just take them off. I hope that helps 🥰
