Honestly, it's completely crazy how Norwegian government is pushing people into buying electric cars with these crazy taxes. And that high percentage of EVs in new car sales is completely artificially created market. While the world is coming to realization that transition to EVs is not going to happen overnight and PHEVs is a very sensible intermediate step for many people, the government in Norway continues with conducting an experiment on its own people to be a pioneer in the world with EVs adoption. Said that it seems very few people oppose this policy.
Definitely 👌 Was some rumors some years ago that it got to expensive with a PHEV Cross Country version.. Would probably sell pretty good if they made it, but we're never gonna know
I’m currently on a trip driving across Sweden … I did a count over several hours on the E4 highway and came up with a ratio of Volvo wagons to Volvo SUVs to Volvo sedans on the road of roughly 20:10:1 … in other words, twice the number of Volvo wagons on Swedish roads as Volvo SUVs (my counting sample was > 100 Volvos) ….
numbers are "low", but its still 44 thousand customers... about the pricing in norway - its artificially distorted market by GOV, i would be really pissed if i would be living there and wanting v60. absolutely stupid.
As I've mentioned in the video. 94% of all new car sales in Norway in August 2024 was BEV vehicles.. There's no law against it, but again.. As I said in the video it's crazy high tax on Plug-In Hybrids
You will still be able to buy petrol, diesel and hybrid cars as long as they are made even after the 2025 when we "ban" ICE cars. however they will be so expensive in norway compared to EVs that it doesn't make sense. There are a lot of people i know who wants the v60 and v90 to be available in ev, me included. we don't really get cars that are made for our climate and volvo is one of the brands that do. they really missing out
@@volvo_kristian I'd say is more related to taxation than anything else. Of course XC60 would still outsell v60/v90, but in my opinion it would still be enough demand for wagons if taxation was fair. Just for ref. new Tesla 3 starts at 324k NOK. Of course it's not same category, but give you perspective: 300NOK vs 800NOK, both brand new. This outgoing generation of VOLVOs is one of the most beautiful things that happened in automotive industry, ever. New Ex, Es series will not match the current/outgoing generation volvos in terms of design, I see that already.
@andikoo82 Well they have built it for several years.. and few Norwegian customers came. So that's why they will go. Volvo will still build them, and sell them in other markets
@koszalekopalek9068 Yeah, for Norway's part then taxation are definitely a part of it.. But on a global scale the wagon sales are decreasing as well..
Another great review from a man who obviously loves Volvos. I wish we, in the U.S., had the same style license plates that you have in Europe. European cars look different and much better with them.
@andikoo82 Yeah. Sadly.. Maybe it will change back in some years.. We have gotten several sweet wagons lately. With Audi A6 E-tron, BMW M3 Touring & i5 Turing, and also VW id7
@@volvo_kristian we have an expression in my country, hope is a bitch, looking at global sales for all manufacturers, gray black and white SUVs are on top. It's because people have been misinformed that SUVs are safer, and more practical than wagons, and gray cars sell better on the second hand market. The truth is the opposite, but the damage is done. Oh also they are less economical because of weight and Cx factor no matter the propulsion type. Basically electric SUV are the worse for economy compared to other car shape....
Super video, as always! The car really suits you - but I totally agree with the "ugly" things. The plastic parts painted would just make such a difference. Additionally the Heico springs for a better coefficient and it would be as close as possible to the perfect car - in my opinion.
Your passion shines Kristian. Thanks for a walk through of this edition. I drove it myself a few months ago, before deciding on a specific white C40 MY24 I had my eyes on. The thing with black for me is that I've owned a black car the last 10 years and dirt is very visible on black paint, in my experience. I don't have a garage, so even when I washed my car, it was already showing signs of being dirty after a few hours - even when it's not raining. I drive a white car now, and people say white is sensitive to dirt, but if you ask me; NOT as sensitive as black. 😊
I agree regarding noise in the cabin. For such an expensive car the noise of the road should be better insulated (some more insulation in the wheel arches). Also noise reduction windows in the front and rear, as Tesla does standard in the model Y
I added some sound insulation mat under the trunk cover on my 24 xc40, and the cabin noise levels are now noticably lower. Also, changing the awful pirelli all season tires to proper summer ones made a huge difference.
We are in Sweden (Torsby) at our holyday house with our XC60-2022 T6 recharge R-design and want to visit World of Volvo at our trip home to the Netherlands. Now my question, where can we park the car for the visit? I drive 40 year Volvo and love your RU-vid video's
Great to hear 👍 Well there's a parking garage in the same location as World of Volvo. Same building, so doesn't get easier and more convenient than that. Super smooth. Enjoy your visit
I’d suggest avoiding doing range tests in rainy/cold weather, but then you’d only have a 14 day window in Scandinavia to do all your range tests😂. LOVE the blacked out EC40!
Heidi 🤣 That's the case for my hometown Bergen.. Was unfortunate at this run, but still a valuable test for me.. Can't always do testing under ideal conditions
I wish I could afford the top of the line XC90 Ultimate - champagne pearl with the Swarovski crystal nob. As it is, I could just afford my third Volvo, 2023 XC90 B5, denim blue/blond interior. It's my baby!
Just picked up my new 25 XC90 last week….absolutely love it! Still a nicer design after all these years than the EX90. And yes Kristian, love the smell of the leather interior. Got the lounge package which has the nubuck headliner, visors and grab handles…very lux!
The XC90 B5 and B6 for the American market. Texas alone is larger than most European countries. Traveling from Houston to Dallas will use up a charge and there are few places to change up when you get there. The thought of waiting hours to recharge when I can fill up with gas in 5 minutes defies all logic. I’ll let the Europeans pretend they’re saving the planet with their EVs.
@@volvo_kristian I forgot to complement you on another great review. I totally agree with your opinion about leather. Volvo interiors with the Nappa leather smell rich and inviting. I’m so glad Volvo didn’t nix it as an option in their zeal to be “sustainable”. Keep up the good work, Kristian. By the way do you know when U.S. customers can go on line and build our new XC90s?
Glad to see Volvo is breathing new life into the XC90 I like the refreshed interior and cleaner exterior. I'm glad there are still a few physical buttons in this model, unlike the Ex90.
I’m American, it’s absolutely the XC90 for our market. We don’t have the infrastructure for charging EV’s. Plus we’re much larger country for road trips.
I ordered the EX90 at launch in 2022. Latest news is that my car is postponed to 2025. I also do not like the minimalistic style, the interior materials and so on. I am not really a fan of the charging shenanigans either. Most likely I will cancel the order. Currently I have a full spec XC90 T8 that I bought new in 2016 which I am very happy with. I am reluctant to change it into something I do not really like. I might keep it for another 3-5 years and then consider again to go electric. If I were forced to get a new car right now I would probably buy a second hand XC90 T8 with the larger battery and fuel tank. Buying a brand new XC90 is just a bit to expensive. It is a shame the the taxes on the hybrids are so aggressive considering that the larger battery covers the daily driving for most people.
Yeah. It was sad to hear about this last delay for the EX90.. Have to be a torn in Volvo's eyes. A itch you can't scratch.. Hopefully it all works out in the end. Understand your reasoning regarding a new XC90.. Love these Plug-In Hybrids but as you say, they're sadly heavily taxed.. Quite a shame really. That's why I'm 100% agreeing and supporting your thoughts that a 2nd XC90 might be a good solution, if changing cars. Thanks for commenting 👌
which used XC 60 Volvo Car is the best buy in todays market?» and «what Are your thohghts on plug in hybrid XC 60 versus waiting for the EX60?» Thænks for a wicked Chanel 🫶🏼
The XC 60 seems like an extremely popular car still in Norway. Bein a fan of these cars, and looking to buy a familie car here in Norway, im not sure to gi for a new slightly smaller full EV (ex40) or a nice used top specced XC60, wonder what Kristian would recommend..
Good question. Would say it highly depends what market your in. If we think Plug-In Hybrid then I would definitely recommend MY22.5 or newer to get the updated battery 🔋 If your into diesel/petrol/mild hybrid there's no major preferences either way.. Unless your prefer Volvo's previous Sensus system vs the latest Android Automotive. The EX60 are still like 2 years away, so could definitely recommend a used XC60 while waiting.
