My local arcade had Fighting Layers at the time so I was able to play it. It had Blair and (can’t remember his name but the orange gi shoto from ex1 “justice fist”) from ex1. It had these crazy bonus bosses between fights like a giant shark underwater that kicked my ass, but unlike normal bonus rounds if you lose you lose the game.
EX3 was hilariously my introduction to the series, hell the genre as a whole. I was rather young at the time but I remember loving the credits minigame where you beat up a mob of jobbers and I thought that the Blanka animations were so cool and impressive. Fun memories.
I think this game is really interesting for illustrating just how ahead of its time the Neo Geo hardware was. The size and animation of these sprites and a lot of the stages look incredible, like a whole generation better than early Neo Geo titles.
I walked into a videogame store in Manhattan, and apparently, there is a Strip Fighter IV for the PC. They had it on display, but they were charging up to $70 for it. That store has a tendency to hike up their game prices, tbh.
Been learning more about card fighters and i really really wanna make like proxies of these w my art and maybe like other community artists i think itd be really cool 🥺🥺🥺
I found Strip Fighter 2 to be impossible to play. There was always something blocked my hips from pulling myself closer to fight in the game the way I've wanted play it.
Yeah, I played this game when I was in my mid teens and I hated the fuck out of it, without the help of any magazines or the internet 3D fighters at the time looked like dogshit, and played even worse if they weren't called Tekken or Soul Edge/Calibur or Project Justice, at least to me, who was used to amazing 2d sprite based fighters.
I wish I had access to foreign games during this era. I wanted so much to play this game when it was trending. All good things were inaccessible and unheard of where I lived and now globalisation came when it's too late and everything's mediocre now.
