I have the same machine - it’s really good with pressurized baskets but seems to leak with third party bottomless portafilters.. Everyday I’m trying different options to come up with solid combination to make better espresso 😄
@@sagarmanju7567 what I found stopping the leaking was to tighten the third party portafilter further than the normal one goes, this fixed all my leaking issues. So like pull the portafilter around as far as it will go, don’t stop in the middle 👍🏻👍🏻
@@Coffeewithjoshh thank you for the response. what is your recommended third party portafilter and amount of ground coffee to put in for a good shot? Is it 12 or 15 or 18?
@@sagarmanju7567 hello, there are some okay ones on Amazon if you have a search for 51mm portafilters. The exact one I have is on my linktree. The dose size is dependant on basket size, so check how much the basket can hold that comes with the portafilter some are 16-18g some are 18-20g
ordered 1 today, getting it tomorrow.. my breville barista max just gave up on me so seen this was a cheap option for a quick buy.. hopefully does a good turn. nice wee video though mate, keep going man..
nice routine I chose to dump those dosing rings which leave this "outer ring" where there is no coffee I think it completely erases all the WDT work you have done before.
How does the handle improve the output of the coffee? Does it include salsa? Did the basket come to you with the handle you bought a while ago or is it a separate purchase?
@@omridavidi8885 I bought a non pressurised basket separately from IMS on Amazon, it didn’t fit the green Delonghi portafilter so I bought a bottomless portafilter also from Amazon. The basket upgrade is only really required if you grind your beans with an expensive grinder.
Can you help me. I can’t use this machine it’s driving me mad. After I made the coffee there was still coffee full in the basket? I stoped the machine because it was poring clear water after coffee… what’s all the coffee left after in the basket? it’s driving me mad
It’s right that there should be coffee still in the basket, the coffee grounds don’t dissolve, you just extract the coffee from the grounds then dispose of the used grounds. It shouldn’t be coming out watery tho, that is a problem. What coffee brand do you use, do you buy ground or whole bean, and do you have your own grinder?
@@Coffeewithjoshh oh right haha what an idiot! it was watery because I let it continue with water after the coffee. I just used some house coffe Starbucks, I’m not a massive coffee drinker. My parters present. just getting used to the machine, at least it looks nice 😂
I really want to buy this am machine for my parter however I don’t know what coffe to buy with it, can’t grind beans though. What’s ground coffee should I purchase?
Hello! I would recommend using Lavazza ground espresso from the supermarket if you aren’t going to grind yourself, that’s what I used for ages and it worked well for me!
@@Coffeewithjoshh thanks so much I will get that as my parter wants espresso. I don’t like espresso it’s to strong but I like a good latte.. what coffee domino’s for that?
@@leahmarie7854 well you are in luck! The machine can make both espresso & lattes. A latte is just a double shot of espresso mixed with steamed milk :). Latte recipe: Double shot of espresso (40g) + Steamed/ frothed hot milk (250ml) = Latte 😎
That is a very noisy steamer. That thumping will get annoying very quickly. Trying to hide it with music is dishonest. The ascaso has the same problem. It seems to be due to the thermoblock.
@@johnhoyle4401 yes it is loud, unsure where you have got that I’m trying to hide it? Adding the music is not to try hide anything, it doesn’t affect me if sage products are loud, I don’t work for anyone 🤣🤣🤣
Before you insert the portafilter and pull a shot, press the shot button and get rid of the burst of steam. Improves the shot and it even says to do it in the manual. Only run it until the steam comes out.
@@Coffeewithjoshh no, he really meant the group head. Bambino plus is notorious for superheating the water on standby, so it's best to let the steam come out first before you insert the portafilter
@@Coffeewithjoshh No, it's even in the manual to purge the group head before pulling a shot. Give it a go without the portafilter in and you'll see a hit of steam come out during the pre-infusion stage. You want to get rid of that before you pull a shot. It's a characteristic of the jet boil system.
@@leylatheexplorer6407 we upgraded from Nespresso to this, it does take a little getting used to but trust the process, I’ve done lots of videos on this :)
@@KnoelsNook I still have it, I will probs make a video in the future again with it. But it was time to get something with a bit better of a milk frother :),
@@MrJeff2048 thanks :), I think people get confused about baskets & portafilters thinking because the portafilter isn’t bottomless they possibly think it’s pressurised, which it’s not!
@@WatchWithMeRU-vid it will most likely by John Watts, “light espresso roast” but it’s actually a medium roast & it’s a Blend of African and Central American beans. (It doesn’t have a strength number)
@@LeCreativeMind that’s how you pull a manual shot, hold it down, the longer you hold it the longer the pre infusion lasts, then once you are done, press the button again and it stops
@@Makwayne pre infusion is a small amount of water released at a lower pressure (less than 9bar) to soak the coffee puck first. This is done as it sets the coffee puck meaning when the higher pressure comes through after the pre infusion, it makes it less likely you will get gaps in the puck to cause channeling 👍🏻
That milk had a wonderful velvet foam! But, may I suggest a burr grinder instead of a blender. It will give you a uniform grind size and help prevent the odd sour or bitter coffee.
@@Coffeewithjoshh awesome thank you. Really like your channel. Do you prefer dosing funnel or a cup for transferring into the portafilter? I have your same grinder/machine and wanting to have less mess.
That is entirely up to what beans you use. There's no way around having to dial in the beans yourself. Unfortunately, you'll have to waste a few shots to dial in the beans you have, especially if you switch beans regularly. If you stick with 1 bean for the rest of your life, then you can set the grind size and forget about it, although every single batch of roasted coffee will still require different grind size, but it's really close that only a little adjustment is needed.
@@Coffeewithjoshhhaha i actually don’t get notifications but came back to this video. I was wondering if there are any other parts that are missing from the short like do you pour some of the milk out before pouring it onto the espresso or smack it on the counter like other baristas? I find that the froth is a lot and quite stiff when on 2 bar for the froth when using the automatic steam finding
Nice setup, I do basically the same thing but with a few small differences. I don’t spray my dosing cup, it gets a little sticky with the grinds, I do the RDT spray in a separate container. I use a wdt tool where the needles fan out rather than all straight down, it’s so much nicer you have to try it. I also use a bottomless portafilter with a little mirror to see how the shots pull (and it just looks cool). I also weigh my shots but I assume you already have the grind and time dialed in, plus you’re sweetening it so who cares about the extra stuff haha.
Hi! Thanks for the comment! I recently upgraded my machine so I don’t have as much tools which fit my new portafilter size! I do plan on buying a bottomless portafilter again (I had one on my last machine). I do like the idea of a different wdt but atm I’m just trying to slowly save up for new tools! It’s an expensive hobby 😅. I do weigh my shots to dial in but after I’ve dialled I just time the shot :)
Nice video! I have the same machine and could you tell me if you using standard port filter or others? I am newbie and heard this model port filter is not good . Thank you
It’s called a “bellow”, & yes it’s to get all the coffee out. If you type your grinder & “bellow” there will most likely be one. For the Sage grinder I have a link in my linktree in bio
