Not gonna make a hassle over a fan production costume supply, but I'm curious about the Captain's rank in universe, lol. One solid pip and three black/empty ones. Acting Lt. Commander Captain Ensign? 🤭
Think that was to signify in the new universe he's a Colonel, but without having to make completely new pips. Same as using TNG/DS9 uniforms and combadges.
This was really well done. The ship animations were top notch, and the uniforms were amazing. The modern Star Treks could learn a thing, or two from this. Looking forward to another one. Thank you!
Nice tie-in with the Khan story. The beautiful production quality continues with every episode. Amazing to think this is probably filmed in someone's bedroom. (Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I know how talented you are so it's a feasible hypothesis!)

I see when the credits roll CBS was involved in this>. You seem to be some kind of step child. Out of character for CBS as I have been in contact with Alec Peters of Garth production and VIC involved with Star Trek continues and other fan films . Why CBS didn't reach out to them? As I said you seem to have been brought into the CBS orbit. How you did that??????????????
I think you've misunderstood the "The Producers Would Like To Thank The Following" section. It's acknowledging CBS and Paramount as the copyright and trademark holders. It doesn't mean they've received any official help or resources. You have to remember that in theory, CBS/Paramount could legally copyright strike pretty much any fan production. But several years ago they put out guidelines around whether they were likely to sue or not. Which included length of episodes and amount of funding. As well as not being able to use professional actors from the various Star Trek series. This was triggered by circumstances around the Anaxar Fan project. But scuppered ones like Star Trek Continues as well. What they're managing here is on a fraction of the budget Star Trek Continues had. Let alone Anaxar.
Please share the word, share the episodes, we want as many people to see this new Prodigy content...if we show CBS/Paramount there is serious fan love and more conversations to be had for Star Trek: Prodigy...maybe we can get a 3rd season and beyond of this amazing show! the above appeared at the end of this episode. " If you show CBS??????????????????? " CBS/Paramount if they had THEIR way there would be NO fan films AT ALL>. they want us to be waiting with baited breath for THEIR output ONLY. The judgement of the final court decision limits fan films to something like 15 to 30 minutes. I said my hope for SKYDANCE to change that but chances are NO-No change. The bean counters and suits call the shots. Paramount has made it clear-they paid for TREK exclusivity and they WILL exercise that right. They hope you ALL go away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
David, this is not helpful at all and borders on fear mongering. The "final court decision limits fan films to something like 15 to 30 minutes" is incorrect. Those are part of the guidelines that CBS has released at the request of a select few. But they are just that - guidelines. CBS and Paramount enjoy the tenacity that fans have for Star Trek, but at the same time, they also have to protect their interests when someone tries to profit off of their IP with out going through the proper channels. So no, they don't want all fan films to go away - they just don't want people out there making films in an effort to make money. Golden rule - be respectful of the IP owners and you'll be golden.

Perhaps with SKYDANCE now heavily involved I hope all the fan films don't have to be SHORTS a la Star Trek Continues which for me was the best of all the fan films. Congrats to Vic in charge of it.
Perhaps, although STC was made on a budget of $50,000 per episode for the 40 mins, the chances of us raising that budget to create full episodes....we'll we would love it but its unlikely without celebritys attached as STC did. Being able to do these in a short form way allows us to do a lot of story and on a very small budget.
Thank you! We have produced over 20 other fan films of various Eras and characters from Trek, do go check them out for more! @@SGUDistantHope I continue to enjoy seeing the Protostar, inside and out. That is a lovely ship, and it’s really cool to see live-action people on board. The writing is snappy and smart. Great acting by everyone; the actors really know their characters by now, and it shows. As for where the story is going, I can only guess, you’ve got me stumped. But I do hope someone from Prodigy shows up at some point, even Murf.
Great job again! I love all of the different virtual sets and locations; it adds a real sense of scale to the world. I am looking forward tot he next one.
Thank you as always! Indeed, doing this more long form thing and having so many episodes with distinct story beats has let me do just "more" even if this particular episode took SO MUCH longer to make. any predictions to where you think the adventure is going? Thank you, LOTS MORE to come ha! @@SGUDistantHope I became a Star Trek fan when I was 8 years old and Star Trek original series started. We actually talked our parents into moving up our bedtime from 8:30 to 9:00 so that we could see the full episode. I love the references back to Kahn and the exceedingly interesting different timeline built on Khan's survival. Keep doing what you're doing. You got this!! Oh yeah, I shared it about 10 seconds into my first watch. Greatly anticipating the next one. 🥰🥰
Hey Bob, New episodes have been released every fortnight! The first 5 episodes will release ever 2 weeks, then we will take a short break to be able to ensure we can release the next set of episodes also back to back. Hope your enjoying them!
That was Stuarts custom ship design from years ago and his own canon logic as to why all that is the way it is. He is a 10 year You Tube veteran who wanted to see it all represented properly so, Capt Foley of the Foley :)
My hope is with Skydance now in some kind of partnership with Paramount perhaps even taking over, Skydance may allow fans to go a full hour with their creations and NOT be limited as Paramount insisted on when they won their lawsuit against Alec Peters and his Garth depiction which still remains stunted. Here YOU are limited to under 10 minutes! Was that by choice or necessity???????????
Our films vary from 6mins to over 25mins depending on the story. If we tried to produce full hour films, we would need to raise a much larger budget via Indiegogo and as such more fans would have to donate for us to be able to do so. The advantage of the short formats is that the budgets to create are lower :D
This is a really good production and good story line. Acting is pretty good as well. Nice work! I am puzzled with the story. Why the captain could not help the lieutenant with operating the protowarp drive. If she was captain of the first protowarp flight, surely she must be an expert.
Thank you! Much appreciated! Great question. We have filmed (but not yet edited) that story so i can answer. In that story, Captain Keller was brought on to captain the first test flight but not pilot. That was also 15-18 years earlier than this mission. She was not trained on Protodrive operations to the extent that the pilot was for that mission, and it was just a single mission. In the almost 2 decades that have past, as with many skills, she is only aware of the Protodrive but not its ins and outs. Plus her job in this situation with limited time is to solve every other problem, with Reeds being to work on the protodrive. Great question!
