yes, thank you for this video, very good and helpfull. However, I would like to have more topics explained. It is clear to me, and very reasonable that if the consumer forgets a services provider is coming, still has to get charged. But I found insensible that if somebody like my very sick husband has suddenly get rush to hospital URGENTLY, in an emergency fashion, like it happened more than once, and I as a carer advice ASAP he is hospitalised, still get charged for services that are not delivered, because it wasnot cancelled 24 hrs. before. But 24 hrs before my husband was ok... during the day he started to get worse and then, i ended up that I have to call the ambulance. We dont have a crystal ball to know what could happen or will happen hours after. With such a bad luck that it always had hapenned like this, emergencies, urgencies, when a Services Worker is coming, or a subcontractor is coming...something that is not the case every single day, he doesnt have services everyday. And then, when he needs a TENS machine to calm his pain, recommended by his GP, since due to his heart issues and bad and chronic kidney function he can take medicines for that pain, he was told that the HCP doesnt cover that kind of thing, that is an exclusion... but it covers a robot vaccum,a computer, etc.... So, in my husband case, the money goes in "late cancellation fees" full price, paying people that didnt do anything, and not in what the old sick consumer needs for his health and wellbeing... I dont understand this system. Thank you very much 🙂

Definitely interested in a video about what you can't use funding for. Eg some providers will 'allow' spending on specialised shoes or continence wear, others won't. Great 'disappointment' or dissatisfaction often comes from Clients who have unrealistic expectations. Thanks for the great HCP run-down. I'm going to recommend to others.

Thanks for your feedback Martina, I will follow this up with a further video and yes I've been hearing some of the complaints from clients and I believe a lot of it comes from a lack of clear communication on how a package can be used.

Why does the system put the burden on the client to write the notes.? Perhaps there should be a register the worker can sign off.
@cdcsagedcare
@cdcsagedcare Месяц назад
There's no requirement for the client to write notes, however the care staff and case managers should keep up to date notes on the care and services delivered to the person to help with continuity of care and as evidence they are addressing the person's needs. Sorry if I confused the issue in the video.

I feel guilty for telling people not to call me honey sweety, and etc. The other person can turn offensive. I do believe my words fall on death ears. And I feel I have been in an argument because of their offensive reaction. I guess since I can't stop it, and I never will, my best solution for me, is bite my tongue and take the high road.
@cdcsagedcare

It is difficult sometimes. I was recently in the UK and in an area where it was common for the locals to call you duck or ducky. This was an old term from the Middle Ages where it actually meant duc or duke and was a term of respect. It's sometimes best to pick your battles. In an aged care context if staff called someone duck or love etc., it would be appropriate to pull them up and let them know your preferred title or name as they should know better, it's more difficult with the casual meeting of a worker in a shop.

Due to a shortage of labour could you do a video on sub contactors and the approval process. ie need for invoice and reimbursement.
@cdcsagedcare
@cdcsagedcare Год назад
Good idea, I have added it to the list as it is an important area that we have worked through with a number of providers. Currently all subcontractors need to be managed through the approved provider, that will change in the future though once the new home care program is introduced in July 2024.

What happens if they need more support than their package can provide? I am interested to know. Thank you for the video it is really helpful.😊👍
@cdcsagedcare
@cdcsagedcare Год назад
Good question, if someone needs more support than their package can provide, they should be referred back to My Aged Care for a review of their package level. If they have fully expended their package, they may be assessed for a higher package level. If they are on a level 4, though, it gets difficult as home care support doesn't cover 24-hour care, which usually means the family carer needs to take on a lot of the physical caring, the person needs to move into residential care or they need to find the funds to pay for additional care and potentially a full-time carer.

Very helpful for all staff. This should be yearly revisited as some organizations due to lack of staff coerce their staff particularly the casual.

I agree, it's definitely a topic to be revisited regularly and for people to know and be able to state clearly their scope of practice so they aren't coerced into moving outside it.

We have invented so many ways to divert our attention from naming and systematically dealing with the real enemy that causes all other problems to occur. It is called: abuse. Just open Wikipedia and search for Abuse (90+ ways). Our ignorance of its spread make us too tolerant, accommodating, silent, angry, etc. Duty of Care does not fight abuse, it only makes it little less abusive. Legal system punishes those that get caught but remains passive to abuse, it let’s it be, it let’s it hide in plain sight and thrive like human weed/virus. Abuse is present in all spheres of live. So focus on abuse first and duty of care will be its normal outcome.

Thanks for adding to the conversation, yes abuse is something needs to be addressed and not glossed over.

Love your videos Find them very helpful as I’m studying cert III Age Care. I really like your delivery and info. Please give us more as you information is invaluable. I recently rescued a disabled lady, left in a bathtub for 2 hrs in a house by herself, by a support worker. Luckily she had a phone with her. The organisation would not send anyone to help her. She reached out on a Facebook page for any support worker available to help. I was the only person who responded. The legal follow up is now happening.
